Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

This study extends the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to investigate the adoption of AI tools among university students, incorporating Ethics and Trust as moderating variables and Subjective Norms as a quadratic variable. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) on a sample of 437 students’ reveals that Perceived Usefulness (PU) significantly influences Attitude Toward Using (ATU), while Perceived Ease of Use (PU) significantly influences Attitude Toward Using (ATU), while Perceived Ease of Use (PEoU) does not, suggesting familiarity with technology reduces the role of ease of use. Ethics positively impacts ATU, highlighting its importance in shaping attitudes. However, Ethics and Trust do not...

Advances in Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED) are providing teachers with a wealth of new tools and smart services to facilitate student learning. Meanwhile, growing public concern over the potentially harmful societal effects of AI has prompted the publication of a flurry of AI ethics guidelines and policy documents authored by national and international government agencies, academic consortia and industrial stakeholders. AI ethics policy guidance specific to children and K-12 education has lagged behind; this scene is swiftly changing. In this paper, we examine the ethical principles currently informing AI ethics policy development for children and K-12 education. To...

Resumen:

Texto completo

This article discusses the current progress of the on-going design efforts in creating an AI-enabled gamified web-based online learning application in the university introductory physics courses. The application aims to cater to the learning needs of students with diversity of the background, particularly students with little or weak background. The overall design architecture and principles are discussed, focusing on the rationale and design of the gamified elements that have been incorporated within the application, namely: (i) incremental difficulties, (ii) points and streaks, (iii) leaderboard, and (iv) gamified and animated user interface. Particularly, the gamified elements are...

In the current context of China's higher education, work stress is a frequent challenge for young university teachers, often co-occurring with job burnout. This is a significant issue that is associated with both their teaching effectiveness and their career development. The purpose of this study is to explore the mediating roles of AI literacy and psychological resilience in the relationship between work stress and job burnout among young university teachers, as well as how AI literacy moderates the associations among work stress, psychological resilience, and job burnout of these young teachers. A nationwide survey was conducted, involving 411 university teachers. The main findings are as...

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Advances in large language models (LLMs) enable timely and scalable writing evaluation. Previous research has shown that LLM-driven conversational systems, such as ChatGPT, can provide feedback on short essays. However, it is unclear whether AI can effectively evaluate more demanding genres. This study investigates a custom-built writing feedback system developed at a Hong Kong university that uses OpenAI's GPT-4 Turbo (0125-preview) to provide rubric-based feedback on a 1500-word academic report. Guided by a detailed, rubric-aligned prompt, the system generated 333 feedback items from 37 undergraduates, which were analysed for accuracy, tone, and inclusion of examples. The analysis showed...

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: creencias y actitudes de los estudiantes

Resumen:

Texto completo

ChatGPT has been a revolutionizing AI Chatbot, that has impacted academia significantly. Although there has been a number of studies over the influence of AI and education, a focus towards why students use it is minimal. This study explores factors affecting student use of ChatGPT through a triangulation approach, blending exploratory, qualitative, and quantitative analyses. Through exploration of factors via prior literature and analysis of narratives by the respondents of qualitative analysis to measuring their relationships quantitatively using SEM techniques, the study identifies core reasons to use ChatGPT by students of higher education. The findings highlight the significance of six...

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

The rapid integration of Generative AI (GenAI) into higher education presents both opportunities and systemic challenges, particularly in domains where feedback is central to learning. This study investigates the capacity of a large language model to generate formative feedback for student-created UML diagrams in a university software engineering course. Across two cohorts (N = 262), AI-generated, teacher-generated, and no-feedback conditions were compared, analyzing student perceptions, learning outcomes, and grading reliability. Results show that while students rated GenAI feedback as beneficial and often comparable to human comments, teacher feedback remained more effective in supporting...
