Resumen:

Texto completo

Even before the age of artificial intelligence, automated scoring received considerable attention in educational measurement. However, its application to constructed response (CR) items in international large-scale assessments (ILSAs) has remained a challenge, primarily due to the difficulty of handling multilingual responses spanning many languages. This study addresses this challenge by investigating two machine learning approaches — supervised and unsupervised learning — for scoring multilingual responses. We explored various scoring methods to assess three science CR items from TIMSS 2023 across all participating countries and 42 languages. The results showed that the supervised...

Resumen:

Texto completo en HTML

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a ubiquitous concept and tool already found across society and an integral part of everyday life. As such, basic understanding and knowledge of AI should be a critical component of student education to foster successful global citizens. This position paper describes one possible path to address potential gaps in AI education and integrate AI across the curriculum at a traditional research university. The University of Florida (UF) is infusing AI across the curriculum and developing opportunities for student engagement within identified areas of AI literacy regardless of student discipline. The AI Across the Curriculum initiative being developed at UF...

From simulation to flight: Simulation-assisted drone learning with teacher-AI co-designed scaffolds for secondary students’ STEM knowledge and competencies

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

A persistent challenge in drone-based STEM education is the scarcity of teacher-verified, interactive simulations that support both conceptual learning and competency development. Generative AI can accelerate content creation, but its outputs frequently lack pedagogical validity and contextual alignment. This study examines whether simulation-assisted drone instruction, anchored by teacher-AI co-designed simulations, yields superior learning outcomes compared to the same hands-on curriculum delivered without simulations. Using a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design with 30 secondary students (aged 13 to 17), both groups completed identical drone tasks with the same instructor; however...

Resumen:

The availability of Automated Assessment tools for computer programming tasks can be a significant asset in Computer Science education. Systems providing such kind of service are built around an interface, allowing to administer the tasks (exercises to train programming skills), and show the results, accompanied by meaningful feedback. To produce such results, they apply techniques ranging from static analysis of program correctness, to testing-based evaluation. These systems can also support Competitive Programming, which is known to have educational meaning too. We developed the 2TSW system, supporting the automated correction of computer programming tasks, in a gamified web-based...

AI-based teaching evaluations: How well do they reflect student perceptions?
Yossi Ben Zion, Shir Yakov, Einat Abramovitch (2025)

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

This study presents an innovative solution for evaluating university-level teaching quality using artificial intelligence (AI), focusing on key aspects such as clarity of explanation and lecture structure. Traditional student surveys, while valuable, are often subject to biases and lack the necessary granularity, creating a need for objective, scalable solutions that provide consistent results. We propose an automated framework utilizing advanced natural language processing (NLP) models to assess teaching quality based on lecture transcripts. The methodology combines AI-driven transcription, machine learning-based assessments, and correlation with institutional student evaluations to...

Exploring English language learning via Chabot: A case study from a self determination theory perspective
Nagaletchimee Annamalai, Mohd Elmagzoub Eltahir, Samer H. Zyoud (2023)
Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence
Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

This study applied Self Determination Study to understand 25 undergraduate students' motivation to learn the English language via chatbot. The data collected from interviews were categorized based on three psychological needs of learners: autonomy, competence and relatedness. The interview data were categorized based on the thematic analysis suggested by Braun and Clarke. The findings revealed that chatbots support competence, autonomy, and relatedness. However, the findings also revealed that chatbots lack an emotional environment and give inaccurate English language learning information. To address these problems, students suggested that chatbots should be used solely for assessment...

Promoting pre-service music teachers’ TPACK with generative AI: an intervention through designing with AI
Haiying Li, Ching Sing Chai, Xinlei Wang (2025)
Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence
Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) presents transformative opportunities for education, yet its integration into music teacher preparation remains underdeveloped. Two critical gaps exist: (1) scant empirical studies on how pre-service music teachers can leverage GenAI to develop their expertise; and (2) the potential of designing with AI to develop technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) in music education is unexplored, despite evidence of the effectiveness of learning by design in other disciplines. This study implemented a six-week designing with AI intervention grounded in TPACK framework, engaging 59 pre-service music teachers in collaborative GenAI-assisted lesson...

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: revisión bibliográfica

Temas: enseñanza/aprendizaje de vocabulario

Resumen:

Texto completo

Investigating undergraduate students' perceptions and awareness of using ChatGPT as a regular assistance tool: A user acceptance perspective study
Hayder Albayati (2024)
Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence
Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

This study examines the factors influencing user acceptance of ChatGPT as a daily reference tool and assesses varying levels of user awareness. It aims to offer valuable insights into the potential benefits and challenges of implementing ChatGPT in an educational context. To achieve this objective, we employ an integrated model comprising the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and four novel external constructs: Privacy, Security, Social Influence, and Trust. This proposed model delivers an in-depth understanding of user acceptance by simultaneously measuring diverse user perspectives. Adopting a quantitative research approach, the study surveys undergraduate students regarding their use of...

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: estrategias de comunicación

Resumen:

Texto completo
