Resumen:
This study examines the reliability and accuracy of large language models (LLMs) for automated classroom observation using the World Bank's TEACH Primary framework. As education systems increasingly explore AI-based tools to scale teacher feedback and professional development, empirical validation of these systems is critical. Using a corpus of 12 primary classroom videos, we compared 8618 AI-generated evaluations from eight LLM endpoints against consensus-based ratings from certified TEACH experts. To account for model stochasticity, each model produced 10 independent evaluations per video–element pair. Reliability was assessed using variability and inter-rater consistency indicators,...

Resumen:
The growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) skills across various sectors has enhanced AI-focused careers and shaped academic exploration in educational institutions. These institutions have been actively developing teaching methods that enhance practical AI applications, particularly through integrating AI with the Internet of Things (IoT), leading to the emergence of the Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT). This convergence promises significant advancements in AI education, addressing gaps in structured learning methods for AIoT. This study explored AIoT's application in Smart Farming (SF) and its potential to enrich AI education and sectoral advancements. The AIoT platform...

Student feedback on teaching at the end of the semester is an important source of information for instructors to gain insights into the effectiveness of their teaching. There are usually two forms of student feedback: quantitative scores and qualitative feedback. Quantitative scores can usually be easily summarized, while the analysis of qualitative feedback is usually effort-intensive as it deals with text. To help instructors glean insights from students' qualitative feedback, many previous studies used unsupervised approaches (i.e., topic modelling) for topic extraction in student feedback. Although topic modelling enables automated detection of previously unseen topics with minimal...

Resumen:
The present article studies the relation between learning styles in language learning and educational culture in Romania before and after the fall of the communist regime. The sample consists of 204 Romanian students learning Spanish in Madrid. To measure learning styles, the Cuestionario Honey Alonso (CHAEA) was used. Educational culture, understood as behaviors, beliefs and attitudes with respect to the learning process, was analyzed using the Cuestionario de Cultura Educativa (CCE), based on the cultural dimensions theory and model by Hofstede (1986, 2001). Significant changes were found in educational culture and dominant learning styles between both periods,...

Resumen:
As generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools become increasingly integrated into educational environments, concerns have emerged about their potential to facilitate academic dishonesty. Drawing on the modified theory of planned behavior, this study aimed to understand undergraduate students’ academic cheating behaviors using GenAI. The study conducted a mixed-method approach, utilizing focus groups and polls to gather insights from 25 undergraduate students enrolled in a course that incorporated GenAI into its pedagogical design in the United States. The results revealed that the integration of GenAI into higher education is perceived as inevitable. While students clearly recognized...

ChatGPT can be defined as a chatbot powered by OpenAI's GPT language models, which has shown promise in improving English-as-a-foreign-language (EFL) writing knowledge and skills. However, its application to developing EFL argumentative writing logic remains largely unexplored, despite the importance of this area. Moreover, existing studies have highlighted deep learner engagement with ChatGPT-based learning but have not examined how engagement varies between two key components of this learning method: GPT responses (GPT's messages to learners) and learner prompts (learners' messages to GPT). To better understand the mechanisms and efficacy of ChatGPT-based learning for EFL argumentative...

Resumen:
In the present paper, we report the findings of a qualitative survey study of 195 Finnish 5th and 6th grade students' pre-instructional conceptions of artificial intelligence (AI). An exploration of these initial conceptions provides insight into students' preliminary understanding of the topic and informs curriculum designers and teachers about misconceptions that might jeopardize student learning. The findings suggest that students' initial conceptions of AI are varied and often uninformed. For instance, references to the role of data in training AI applications were practically nonexistent. Instead, AI was often described as an anthropomorphic technology that possesses cognitive...

Resumen:
This study investigated in-service teachers' Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge for Generative Artificial Intelligence (TPACK-GenAI) and examined the factors influencing their integration of generative AI in classroom practice. Using an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, data were collected from 325 in-service teachers across 26 countries, followed by in-depth interviews with seven teachers. Quantitative results revealed that Technological Knowledge (TK), Pedagogical Knowledge (PK), and Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) were significantly associated with teachers' overall TPACK-GenAI. Crucially, mediation analysis confirmed that Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK...
