From intuition to action: Exploring teachers’ ethical awareness in the use of AI tools in education
Chun Sing Maxwell Ho, John Chi-Kin Lee (2025)
Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence
Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

This study investigates how teachers perceive and understand ethical issues arising from the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, and identifies the factors influencing their ethical awareness. Grounded in the Social Intuitionist Model (SIM), which emphasizes intuitive and emotionally driven moral judgments, the research explores teachers’ ethical perceptions as shaped by classroom experiences (micro/meso contexts) and broader social, cultural, and institutional influences (macro contexts) surrounding AI integration. Using a case study approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 26 teachers from primary and secondary schools, selected for their...

Background: As a natural and continual process, the initial learning stages encompass mastering and recalling basic facts. The process proves effective with the integration of new information with pre-existing knowledge characterised as schema to facilitate memory encoding. Additionally, emotions also have the ability to modulate human cognition in terms of learning and memory. The recent advent of gamification in e-learning, which has garnered much scholarly and industrial interest, necessitates a thorough examination between video-based learning and its subsequent implications on schema, emotions, and gamification. Objectives: The current multidisciplinary research triangulated cognitive...

Resumen:

Texto completo

This study presents the results of the implementation of Generative-AI Interactive Textbook, an intelligent textbook built on a large language model based on GPT-4, which is directly integrated into the subject of Electrical Engineering course and provides interactive, adaptive teaching functions. The textbook was deployed in the 2024/2025 academic year, and the data was compared with the summary results from 2021 to 2024. The sample consisted of 736 students. The results suggest that the effects associated with the introduction of GenAI-T vary depending on the type of assessment and the analytical context. In multi-year analyses, a statistically significant improvement in mid-term...

Resumen:

Texto completo

The ascent of generative artificial intelligence (AI) challenges art and design education to reaffirm the value of human creativity. This study proposes and examines a pedagogical response: a project-based learning (PBL) model with digital storytelling (DS) at its core, designed to cultivate the emotional, cultural, and narrative capacities that AI lacks. Conducted through an embedded case study of the 15-week “Creative Shanzhou” project with 426 Chinese undergraduate students, the research implemented a theoretically-grounded PBL-DS framework. Digital storytelling served as the primary methodology for students to translate local cultural heritage into emotionally resonant, multimodal...

Resumen:

Open-ended assessments play a pivotal role in enabling instructors to evaluate student knowledge acquisition and provide constructive feedback. Integrating large language models (LLMs) such as GPT-4 in educational settings presents a transformative opportunity for assessment methodologies. However, existing literature on LLMs addressing open-ended questions lacks breadth, relying on limited data or overlooking question difficulty levels. This study evaluates GPT-4's proficiency in responding to open-ended questions spanning diverse topics and cognitive complexities in comparison to human responses. To facilitate this assessment, we generated a dataset of 738 open-ended questions across...

Resumen:

Texto completo en HTML

Artificial intelligence literacy is a concept that has been the focus of exhaustive research recently. However, there are very few psychometrically sound and thoroughly evaluated instruments that attempt to assess AI literacy in a valid way. Therefore, this study presents an item set to assess the AI literacy of non-experts. In the context of a Delphi expert study, 53 subject matter experts participated in three iterative questionnaire rounds to generate potential AI literacy items and assess their content validity. In addition, the experts made suggestions on how the items’ wording accuracy could be improved and evaluated the wording suggestions of the other experts. Of 47...

Research efficacy is a vital contributor to enhancing research productivity within higher education institutions. Despite its importance, there has been limited focus on understanding this construct and its enablers. This study addresses this gap by exploring research efficacy through the lens of artificial intelligence (AI) utilization among students. The findings reveal that AI utilization has a significant positive impact on various dimensions of research efficacy, including background, review, methodological, analytical, and reporting efficacy. Additionally, review efficacy is shown to significantly influence background, methodological, and reporting efficacy, while it does not impact...

This article is a cross-sectional study that examined 30 Tunisian L1 Arabic- L2 French -L3 Spanish learners’ written narratives at B1 and C1 levels, as well as 15 Spanish native speakers. Its main purpose was to find out whether there is a L1 Arabic or a L2 French transfer in learners Spanish preterite and imperfect distinction, based on Andersen’s 1986, 1991 LAH (Lexical Aspect Hypothesis). The results showed no significant correlation between lexical and morphological aspects in the participants’ productions. Moreover, an independent sampled t-test allowed us to verify no significant difference between the advanced C1 group and the native group regarding preterite and imperfect use with...

Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: análisis de errores

Resumen:

Texto completo
