Delphi study for the development and preliminary validation of an item set for the assessment of non-experts' AI literacy
Matthias Carl Laupichler, Alexandra Aster, Tobias Raupach (2023)
Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo en HTML

Artificial intelligence literacy is a concept that has been the focus of exhaustive research recently. However, there are very few psychometrically sound and thoroughly evaluated instruments that attempt to assess AI literacy in a valid way. Therefore, this study presents an item set to assess the AI literacy of non-experts. In the context of a Delphi expert study, 53 subject matter experts participated in three iterative questionnaire rounds to generate potential AI literacy items and assess their content validity. In addition, the experts made suggestions on how the items’ wording accuracy could be improved and evaluated the wording suggestions of the other experts. Of 47...

Promoting pre-service music teachers’ TPACK with generative AI: an intervention through designing with AI
Haiying Li, Ching Sing Chai, Xinlei Wang (2025)

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) presents transformative opportunities for education, yet its integration into music teacher preparation remains underdeveloped. Two critical gaps exist: (1) scant empirical studies on how pre-service music teachers can leverage GenAI to develop their expertise; and (2) the potential of designing with AI to develop technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) in music education is unexplored, despite evidence of the effectiveness of learning by design in other disciplines. This study implemented a six-week designing with AI intervention grounded in TPACK framework, engaging 59 pre-service music teachers in collaborative GenAI-assisted lesson...

Resumen:

Texto completo

The advent of generative artificial intelligence (AI) applications, such as ChatGPT, has significantly impacted various aspects of human life, including higher education. This study explores university students' attitudes toward ChatGPT, focusing on the cognitive, affective, and behavioral components of attitudes, on the basis of Mitcham's philosophical framework of attitudes toward technology. A total of 595 university students from six public and private universities in northern Peru participated in an online survey. The results of the structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis revealed that the affective component (β = 0.672∗∗∗) and the cognitive component (β = 0.260∗∗) positively...

Intelligent personal assistants, otherwise known as virtual assistants, are artificial intelligence-powered conversational agents that utilize machine learning to understand and appropriately respond to user requests. In recent years, research interest on the use of this emerging technology for foreign language learning has increased. Several studies have examined the use of intelligent personal assistants for English as a foreign language learning. However, no study has studied intelligent personal assistants in the context of a non-English foreign language. Thus, this case study addressed this gap in the research by investigating the out-of-class, self-directed use of the intelligent...

AI for education: The digital transformation of a liberal arts institution – implementation at Lingnan University
S. Joe Qin (2026)
Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence
Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: trabajo teórico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

The global landscape of higher education is undergoing a profound transformation driven by Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and pervasive digital technologies, particularly posing fundamental challenges to the traditional liberal arts education model grounded in holistic human development, broad intellectual inquiry, and student engagement. This position paper examines Lingnan University (Lingnan), Hong Kong’s longest-established institution of higher education, as a critical case of how a liberal arts university can strategically transform itself in the digital era without relinquishing its humanistic foundations. It analyzes Lingnan’s institutional transformation towards a “...

A comparative analysis of pre-service teachers’ readiness for AI integration

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Resumen:

Texto completo

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is impacting the way we teach and learn. However, there are still substantial barriers to the integration of AI in educational settings, as teachers often lack the necessary competences to understand and use AI for pedagogical purposes. Therefore, in the early stages of teacher preparation, it is essential to assess the readiness of pre-service teachers for this transition in different initial teacher education (ITE) contexts. This study aims to investigate the readiness of pre-service teachers in Portugal and Spain to integrate AI into future teaching practices. To this end, a study was conducted with 203 pre-service teachers from both countries that compared...

Using LLMs to bring evidence-based feedback into the classroom: AI-generated feedback increases secondary students’ text revision, motivation, and positive emotions
Jennifer Meyer, Thorben Jansen, Ronja Schiller (2024)
Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

Writing proficiency is an essential skill for upper secondary students that can be enhanced through effective feedback. Creating feedback on writing tasks, however, is time-intensive and presents a challenge for educators, often resulting in students receiving insufficient or no feedback. The advent of text-generating large language models (LLMs) offers a promising solution, namely, automated evidence-based feedback generation. Yet, empirical evidence from randomized controlled studies about the effectiveness of LLM-generated feedback is missing. To address this issue, the current study compared the effectiveness of LLM-generated feedback to no feedback. A sample of N = 459 upper secondary...

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

This study explores the use of serious games combined with machine learning techniques to evaluate student efficiency and determine appropriate degree programs. The main research question addressed is: How can predictive machine learning algorithms, applied to soft skills data collected through serious games, identify the most suitable study path for each student, thereby improving academic orientation and enhancing the likelihood of educational success? The research involved 211 university students from a single university in Italy, focusing on the application of predictive algorithms based on participants' soft skills and academic performance (GPA). The study employs logistic regression...

Developing and validating measures for AI literacy tests: From self-reported to objective measures
Thomas K.F. Chiu, Yifan Chen, King Woon Yau (2024)
Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence
Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

The majority of AI literacy studies have designed and developed self-reported questionnaires to assess AI learning and understanding. These studies assessed students' perceived AI capability rather than AI literacy because self-perceptions are seldom an accurate account of true measures. International assessment programs that use objective measures to assess science, mathematical, digital, and computational literacy back up this argument. Furthermore, because AI education research is still in its infancy, the current definition of AI literacy in the literature may not meet the needs of young students. Therefore, this study aims to develop and validate an AI literacy test for school students...

This paper presents evidence on the impact of technology-aided instruction on literacy using an AI-based multi-sensory technology platform across a large cross-section of government schools in India. The study focused on reading and comprehension in the English language. The intervention enhances the instructional effectiveness of the teachers and the learning ability of the children within the existing instructional environment without any new instructional design or pedagogy or content. Besides, the intervention is implemented by existing teachers and not outside volunteers.A total of 1 million children and 15,000 teachers across 5000 government schools in the states of Maharashtra, West...
