Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo en HTML

Although the importance of K–12 artificial intelligence (AI) education grows, the lack of teacher readiness hinders the integration of AI in schools. To address this issue, this study aimed to explore South Korean elementary school teachers' experiences teaching AI curricula and examine their competencies. A survey and interviews were conducted with 67 elementary school teachers who have been working in AI-leading schools in South Korea. The results indicated that teachers were least confident in content knowledge, followed by technological knowledge and pedagogical knowledge relevant to AI. Additionally, interviews with 13 teachers revealed five themes regarding AI education: (1)...

Resumen:

The computer vision applications in intelligent tutoring systems (ITS) have enabled its use in various domains such as dance and sports. The adaptation in the tutoring system is based on the analysis of hand gestures, body postures, and movement. All these are termed as gross body movements (GBM). The use of these in the intelligent tutoring systems is termed as GBM-ITS in this article. There is no survey paper that considers the use of GBM-ITS in different domains. A systematic process is followed to address six review questions (RQs) by considering the 33 articles published between 2010 to 2022. A brief discussion regarding the methods adopted for analysis and the performance...

Purpose: This study aims to find and assess the literature on technology (Software, artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud, big data, enterprise resource planning, information communication technology, data analytics, mobile computing, fintech, internet of things, and computer assisted auditing techniques) in accounting teaching and learning. Design/methodology/approach: A comprehensive analysis of the literature on the subject was conducted by the authors, who consider 66 papers that were found in the Scopus database. To analyze and outline potential areas for future research in this area, the authors also used a bibliometric analysis to pinpoint the key features of these...

Resumen:

Advances in Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED) are providing teachers with a wealth of new tools and smart services to facilitate student learning. Meanwhile, growing public concern over the potentially harmful societal effects of AI has prompted the publication of a flurry of AI ethics guidelines and policy documents authored by national and international government agencies, academic consortia and industrial stakeholders. AI ethics policy guidance specific to children and K-12 education has lagged behind; this scene is swiftly changing. In this paper, we examine the ethical principles currently informing AI ethics policy development for children and K-12 education. To...

Towards an understanding of the engagement and emotional behaviour of MOOC students using sentiment and semantic features

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo en HTML

Online learning and teaching increased in 2020, driven by the COVID-19 pandemic. As many researchers attempted to understand the impact stress had on the emotional behaviours and academic performance of students, most studies explored these pre- and during-COVID behaviours in the context of brick and mortar institutions transitioning to online delivery. There is an opportunity to compare the experiences of students in the MOOC environment in this period, particularly in terms of the difference of engagement, semantics and sentiment/stress behaviours in 2019 and 2020. In this study, we use a dataset from AdelaideX between this time period to identify the most significant features...

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: prosodia

Resumen:

Texto completo

Opportunities of artificial intelligence for supporting complex problem-solving: Findings from a scoping review

Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence
Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: revisión bibliográfica

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo en HTML

The research objective of this paper is to advance knowledge about the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in complex problem-solving. A problem is complex due to the large number of highly inter-connected variables affecting the problem state. Complex problem-solving situations often change decremental or worsen, forcing a problem solver to act immediately, under considerable time pressure. While research findings support the assumption that (1) affective, (2) (meta-)cognitive, and (3) social processes support complex problem-solving, opportunities of AI for supporting complex problem-solving need to be further investigated. This article presents a scoping review of relevant...

Resumen:

Texto completo en HTML

Artificial intelligence literacy is a concept that has been the focus of exhaustive research recently. However, there are very few psychometrically sound and thoroughly evaluated instruments that attempt to assess AI literacy in a valid way. Therefore, this study presents an item set to assess the AI literacy of non-experts. In the context of a Delphi expert study, 53 subject matter experts participated in three iterative questionnaire rounds to generate potential AI literacy items and assess their content validity. In addition, the experts made suggestions on how the items’ wording accuracy could be improved and evaluated the wording suggestions of the other experts. Of 47...

Resumen:

Retaining learner engagement is a major challenge in online learning environments, which is even more intensified with learning spaces increasingly built by combining resources from multiple independent sources. Narrative-centric learning experience has been found to improve learner engagement by several researchers. Towards this end, we propose an AI-based approach that generates auxiliary learning content called narrative fragments which are interspersed into the learning pathways to create interactive learning narratives. The proposed approach consists of the automatic generation of two types of narrative fragments– overviews of the learning pathway segments and reflection...

Artificial Intelligence teaching and learning in K-12 from 2019 to 2022: A systematic literature review

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: revisión bibliográfica

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo en HTML

There is an emerging interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) teaching and learning in the K-12 setting. While some work has explored the educational content and resources used for this purpose, there is limited empirical evidence on the effectiveness of such AI education interventions. The primary objective of the systematic literature review presented in this paper was to examine research with empirical evidence reporting learning outcomes for teaching and learning AI in K-12 between 2019 and 2022. Through a rigorous selection process, a total of 28 studies were included in the final analysis out of 8,175 papers identified from five research databases using specific search terms....
