When the algorithm enters the classroom: A critical integrative review of large language models, nursing education structural gaps, and the reconstitution of professional identity
Yanjie Sun, Hongzhou Li, Xiaohui Tao (2026)

Resumen:

Texto completo

Large language models (LLMs) are being integrated into nursing education at a pace that outstrips the field's capacity to evaluate their consequences. Existing syntheses have mapped what LLMs can do in nursing contexts. Among those identified in this review, none has examined how their integration affects the professional development processes through which nursing expertise is formed. This critical integrative review addresses that gap.Following Whittemore and Knafl’s (2005) five-stage framework, we systematically searched four databases (PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, Scopus, CINAHL) for studies published between January 2017 and December 2025, yielding 489 included studies from 47...

Opportunities of artificial intelligence for supporting complex problem-solving: Findings from a scoping review

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: revisión bibliográfica

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo en HTML

The research objective of this paper is to advance knowledge about the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in complex problem-solving. A problem is complex due to the large number of highly inter-connected variables affecting the problem state. Complex problem-solving situations often change decremental or worsen, forcing a problem solver to act immediately, under considerable time pressure. While research findings support the assumption that (1) affective, (2) (meta-)cognitive, and (3) social processes support complex problem-solving, opportunities of AI for supporting complex problem-solving need to be further investigated. This article presents a scoping review of relevant...

The IDEA framework for metacognitively regulated GenAI use in higher education: Development and exploratory pilot evidence

Resumen:

Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) can enhance students’ efficiency and the apparent quality of academic work, yet its fluent outputs may encourage learners to outsource cognitive activities central to learning. This creates the risk of “performance without learning”, whereby successful task completion does not necessarily reflect meaningful understanding or learner regulation. To address this concern, this article develops the Intent, Deconstruction, Expression, and Adaptation (IDEA) framework, a theory-informed metacognitive scaffold for GenAI-supported academic work. IDEA guides learners to articulate goals and constraints, decompose tasks into essential processes, communicate...

Students’ engagement with generative AI in academic learning: A self-determination theory and epistemic network analysis study

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

This qualitative case study examines undergraduate students’ engagement with generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in academic learning in an English-medium university setting. This study employs self-determination theory (SDT) as the primary interpretive framework, treating technology acceptance perceptions (e.g., usefulness and ease of use) as descriptive cues rather than explanatory constructs. Data from 23 semi-structured interviews were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis, complemented by epistemic network analysis (ENA) to examine the structural relationships among themes in students’ discourse, with automated coding validated against a manually coded subset. Students...

Delphi study for the development and preliminary validation of an item set for the assessment of non-experts' AI literacy

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Resumen:

Texto completo en HTML

Artificial intelligence literacy is a concept that has been the focus of exhaustive research recently. However, there are very few psychometrically sound and thoroughly evaluated instruments that attempt to assess AI literacy in a valid way. Therefore, this study presents an item set to assess the AI literacy of non-experts. In the context of a Delphi expert study, 53 subject matter experts participated in three iterative questionnaire rounds to generate potential AI literacy items and assess their content validity. In addition, the experts made suggestions on how the items’ wording accuracy could be improved and evaluated the wording suggestions of the other experts. Of 47...

AI adoption readiness among Ukrainian education managers: Barriers, typologies, and policy implications

Resumen:

Texto completo

Artificial intelligence (AI) adoption in education requires strategic leadership from education managers, yet little research examines AI readiness among this stakeholder group, particularly in post-Soviet transitional contexts. As decision-makers who control whether and how AI enters educational practice, managers’ readiness is essential for evidence-based policy. This study investigates (1) the current state of AI adoption readiness among Ukrainian education managers, including the gap between personal and institutional readiness; (2) the barriers and facilitators that most strongly influence AI readiness; (3) distinct manager typologies based on readiness profiles; and (4) policy...

AI-based learning content generation and learning pathway augmentation to increase learner engagement

Metodología: estudio empírico

Resumen:

Texto completo en HTML

Retaining learner engagement is a major challenge in online learning environments, which is even more intensified with learning spaces increasingly built by combining resources from multiple independent sources. Narrative-centric learning experience has been found to improve learner engagement by several researchers. Towards this end, we propose an AI-based approach that generates auxiliary learning content called narrative fragments which are interspersed into the learning pathways to create interactive learning narratives. The proposed approach consists of the automatic generation of two types of narrative fragments– overviews of the learning pathway segments and reflection...

Conversational AI as a catalyst for informal learning: An empirical large-scale study on LLM use in everyday learning

Resumen:

Large language models have not only captivated the public imagination but have also sparked a profound rethinking of how we learn. In the third year following the breakthrough launch of ChatGPT, everyday informal learning has been transformed as these novel tools become easily and widely available. Who is embracing LLMs for self-directed learning, and who remains hesitant? What are their reasons for adoption or avoidance? What learning patterns emerge with this novel technological landscape? We present an in-depth analysis from a large-scale survey of 776 German participants, showcasing that 88% of our respondents already incorporate LLMs into their everyday learning routines for a wide...

Teacher feedback and ChatGPT feedback on Chinese university EFL learners’ English essay revision: A mixed-methods study
Feifei Han, Zehua Wang (2026)
Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence
Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Adopting mixed methods, the study compared teacher feedback and ChatGPT feedback on 35 Chinese university EFL learners’ essay revision, their Perceived Usefulness (PU) and Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) and their perceived benefits and drawbacks of the feedback. Students wrote two English essays and received writing feedback from their English teacher and ChatGPT respectively. They revised one essay using teacher feedback and another using ChatGPT feedback. Upon revision, students responded to a 5-point Likert-scale questionnaire regarding PU and PEOU of the two types of feedback. The results showed that students obtained significantly higher scores on the revised essays using ChatGPT...

Artificial Intelligence teaching and learning in K-12 from 2019 to 2022: A systematic literature review

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: revisión bibliográfica

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo en HTML

There is an emerging interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) teaching and learning in the K-12 setting. While some work has explored the educational content and resources used for this purpose, there is limited empirical evidence on the effectiveness of such AI education interventions. The primary objective of the systematic literature review presented in this paper was to examine research with empirical evidence reporting learning outcomes for teaching and learning AI in K-12 between 2019 and 2022. Through a rigorous selection process, a total of 28 studies were included in the final analysis out of 8,175 papers identified from five research databases using specific search terms....
