This study explored the relative effect of recasts on second language (L2) Korean learners’ accuracy development of the object relative clauses (RCs) and the honorific subject–verb (S-V) agreement in Korean and its relationship with language analytic ability (LAA). Forty-five L2 Korean learners participated in the study and five Korean native speakers participated as their dyadic partners. The learners were assigned into the recast group (n = 27) and the control group (n = 18). The recast group received recasts to their errors of the target forms from an interlocutor, a native Korean speaker, during their engagement in four communicative activities, but no recasts were provided to the control group. This study aimed to examine the relationships between English as a foreign language (EFL) students’ language mindsets (i.e. entity and incremental beliefs about general language intelligence, second language aptitude, and age sensitivity in language learning) and graded performance by considering the mediating roles of their perceived instrumentality as well as four aspects of engagement (i.e. agentic engagement, behavioral engagement, emotional engagement, and cognitive engagement) within English classes. Krashen expone el modelo del Monitor para la actuación del adulto en una segunda lengua —los enunciados se inician con lo adquirido y lo aprendido conscientemente solo los corrige— y lo aplica a la variación individual. A partir de historias de casos distingue tres tipos de usuarios: los que abusan del Monitor y hablan con vacilación, los que apenas lo usan y dependen de lo adquirido, y los usuarios óptimos, que recurren a las reglas cuando no interfieren con la comunicación. Krashen discute la creencia de que algunas personas tienen un don especial para las lenguas. A partir de sus conversaciones con la políglota húngara Kató Lomb y de otros casos, sostiene que quienes parecen superdotados no adquieren de otra manera, sino que han tenido más input comprensible y de mayor interés, y que la «vía rápida» consiste en dar con lecturas y audiciones apasionantes, no en una aptitud innata.
