Tipo: artículo

Metodología: revisión bibliográfica

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

Nowadays, fewer students are choosing to enroll in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields. STEM students in schools and in higher educational institutions appear to be waning, as evidenced by low secondary school STEM enrolments. To add to this, there are also STEM stream students who dropped out and switched to non-STEM streams. This resulted in a shortage of qualified candidates for STEM-based higher education programmes, and subsequently an insufficient number of STEM graduates. Researchers have found several potential contributing factors that may have impacted students’ selection of STEM. However, this relationship is still unclear and needs further...

Classroom teachers are usually responsible for creating materials to meet students' needs and course requirements. The arrival of generative AI, such as ChatGPT, offers EFL teachers an opportunity to regularly collaborate with AI chatbots to create new source materials. The writing experiments in this study considered how to effectively and ethically work with generative AI to produce culturally appropriate EFL teaching materials. The experiments involved co-producing moral dilemmatic stories with ChatGPT to support a new Chinese EFL curriculum unit on “Morals and Virtues”. We draw on Lo's (2023a, 2023b) CLEAR framework for prompt engineering to generate appropriate stimulus materials. We...

Comprehensive concepts of AI literacy (AIL) and valid measures are essential for research (e.g., intervention studies) and practice (e.g., personnel selection/development) alike. To date, several scales have been published, sharing standard features but differing in some aspects. We first aim to briefly overview instruments identified from unsystematic literature research in February 2023. We identified four scales and one collection of items. We describe the instruments and compare them. We identified common themes and overlaps in the instruments and developmental procedure. We also found differences regarding scale development procedures and latent dimensions. Following this literature...
