Resumen:

Texto completo

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has rapidly emerged as a transformative force across diverse sectors worldwide, with policy initiatives signalling its rising prominence. In the realm of education, AI holds promise for revolutionising learning and teaching. However, the incorporation of AI in basic education faces significant challenges for many schools, particularly when explicit curriculum guidelines are absent, and teachers have limited exposure to AI technologies. This study delves into the importance of integrating Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED), particularly in primary and secondary school settings, with a specific emphasis on the obstacles and facilitators. The research...

Resumen:

This study investigates the factors influencing the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by secondary school teachers in Catalonia. Using a Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) methodology, a conceptual model was analyzed that includes AI perception, AI knowledge, General data use, Applied data use, and STEM training as predictors of AI adoption. The results reveal that AI knowledge (β = .482, p < .001) and General data use (β = .288, p = .001) are the most significant and positive predictors of AI adoption. In contrast, AI perception shows a weak but statistically significant negative relationship (β = -.105, p = .022), while applied data use and STEM...

Resumen:

Artificial intelligence (AI) has provided numerous learning benefits due to and beyond its personalization capabilities. AI significantly alters the interaction dynamics among students, teachers, and technology, necessitating the collaborative integration of AI in education instead of mere mechanical use. This study investigates pre-service teachers' perceptions and capabilities within the framework of social cognitive theory, focusing on their attitudes, intentions, self-efficacy, and AI literacy for effective AI integration. We discuss how these perceptions and capabilities help pre-service teachers prepare for the changing identities of being a teacher in AI-integrated education....

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Resumen:

Texto completo en HTML

Over the last few decades, there has been growing interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and how to apply it effectively in the educational process. The behavioural intention and attitudes of teachers play an important role in this regard. The technology acceptance model (TAM) has been shown to be effective in predicting factors that may positively or negatively influence behavioural intentions to use technology. The current study therefore aims to use this model to reveal teachers’ perceptions of the factors that influence the use of AI applications in science education. This research uses the descriptive method where a 6-dimensional scale is designed based on the components of...

AI literacy-related domains and AI-TPACK readiness among preservice mathematics teachers: A factor-informed structural equation modelling study
Moeketsi Mosia, Fadip Audu Nannim, Felix Egara (2026)

Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

In this factor-informed exploratory CFA/SEM study, AI-literacy-related domains were treated as theoretically informed and empirically tested predictors of AI-TPACK readiness rather than as fully validated independent latent variables. Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly entering mathematics education, making it important to understand how preservice teachers become ready to integrate AI-supported tools pedagogically. This study examined AI-TPACK readiness among 130 preservice mathematics teachers at a South African public university. Exploratory factor analysis using polychoric correlations indicated that the AI-TPACK readiness items were essentially unidimensional; one weak design...

Teachers' and students' perceptions of AI-generated concept explanations: Implications for integrating generative AI in computer science education
Soohwan Lee, Ki-Sang Song (2024)

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

The educational application of Generative AI (GAI) has garnered significant interest, sparking discussions about the pedagogical value of GAI-generated content. This study investigates the perceived effectiveness of concept explanations produced by GAI compared to those created by human teachers, focusing on programming concepts of sequence, selection, and iteration. The research also explores teachers' and students' ability to discern the source of these explanations. Participants included 11 teachers and 70 sixth-grade students who were presented with concept explanations created or generated by teachers and ChatGPT. They were asked to evaluate the helpfulness of the explanations and...

Trajectories of AI policy in higher education: Interpretations, discourses, and enactments of students and teachers
Jack Tsao (2025)
Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence
Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in higher education has introduced a spectrum of ethical challenges, significantly impacting learning outcomes, pedagogies, and assessments. Based on the experiences and perspectives of students and teachers at a research-intensive university in Hong Kong, the study draws on qualitative interview data with 58 undergraduate and graduate students and 12 teachers conducted in early 2025. Through the concept of policy trajectories (Ball, 1993; Ball et al., 2012), the research analyses the interconnections between material contexts and discursive constructions in how AI policies (and their absence) are framed, interpreted, enacted, and resisted. The...

The rise of Artificial Intelligence in educational contexts has sparked both excitement and trepidation, highlighting the urgent need to investigate its implications, especially in English Language Teaching. In light of this context, this study aimed to find out how English language teachers perceive the pedagogical benefits and challenges posed by ChatGPT when incorporated into ELT and identify potential avenues for such digital innovations. Adopting a qualitative research design, data were purposively collected by distributing an open-ended questionnaire to 46 English language teachers from multiple countries. This sample was solicited via the academic and research platform ResearchGate,...

Algorithm appreciation or aversion? Comparing in-service and pre-service teachers’ acceptance of computerized expert models
Esther Kaufmann (2021)
Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence
Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

Although computerized expert models (i.e., algorithms) could improve educational decisions and judgments, initial research has demonstrated that teachers, like other professional groups, tend to be “algorithm averse.” In the current study, we use behavioral and questionnaire data to examine the extent to which in-service and pre-service (i.e., students in training to become) teachers accept advice from expert models and investigate how teachers' acceptance of expert models could be improved. Although it is often presumed that younger generations are less algorithm averse, we demonstrate that both in-service and pre-service teachers prefer advice from a human source (school counselor) than...

Understanding the practices, perceptions, and (dis)trust of generative AI among instructors: A mixed-methods study in the U.S. higher education
Wenhan Lyu, Shuang Zhang, Tingting Chung (2025)

Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Resumen:

Texto completo

Generative AI (GenAI) has brought opportunities and challenges for higher education as it integrates into teaching and learning environments. As instructors navigate this new landscape, understanding their engagement with and attitudes toward GenAI is crucial. We surveyed 178 instructors from a single U.S. university to examine their current practices, perceptions, trust, and distrust of GenAI in higher education in March 2024. While most surveyed instructors reported moderate to high familiarity with GenAI-related concepts, their actual use of GenAI tools for direct instructional tasks remained limited. Our quantitative results show that trust and distrust in GenAI are related yet distinct...
