Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

The rapid adoption of generative AI tools such as ChatGPT by students has the potential to disrupt the higher education sector, with concerns being raised by academics about potential threats to academic integrity. This paper contributes to the pressing discussion about responses to AI tools by examining students' perceptions and the use of generative AI to assist them with assessments. Based on a survey among 337 Australian university students, this study found that more than a third of students have used a chatbot for assistance with an assessment, and do not necessarily perceive this as a breach of academic integrity. The study further investigated to what extent different psychosocial...

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

This study examines how a large-scale distance learning institution in the UK designed, implemented, and evaluated an artificial intelligence digital assistant (AIDA) using Sharples' (2025) embedded systems approach. Through six iterative Design-Based Research studies over 18 months, involving 498 students and 20 staff, we explored three questions: (1) how perceptions of AIDA change with experience; (2) its impact on engagement and learning; and (3) how GenAI can be responsibly deployed at a system level. Early Studies 1–3 gathered student preferences for AIDA's design and identified benefits of 24/7, context-specific support alongside concerns over ethics, academic integrity, and data...

Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: trabajo teórico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

The CHAT-ACTS pedagogical framework presented in this paper integrates personalized chatbots into active and self-regulated learning (SRL) to enhance student engagement, motivation, and learning outcomes. Employing three primary learning modes - Personalized Chatbot, Self-Regulated Learning, and Active Learning - the learner occupies the central position, symbolizing their active role in shaping their learning journey. Strategic actions such as Evaluation, Feedback, and Plan are crucial in the Personalized Chatbot mode, while the SRL mode emphasizes Goal Setting and Study Tactics. The Active Learning mode underscores Active-Based Learning and Teaching Strategies. Through these modes,...

Leveraging an LLM-enhanced bilingual conversational agent for EFL children’s dialogic reading: Insights from children, parents, and educators
Feiwen Xiao, Zhaohui Li, Jiaju Lin (2025)

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

Dialogic reading, a technique in which adults and children engage in interactive discussions around a story, has been shown to improve children’s language and literacy development. Despite its evidence-based benefits, its adoption amongfamilies with English as a Foreign Language (EFL) backgrounds has been particularly challenging due to limited English proficiency, restricted conversational skills, and a low inclination to read in English. This paper presents “Storio'', an e-book integrated with a bilingual large language model (LLM)-based conversational agent named “Mia'', used as a design probe to investigate interactions between EFL children (N=17) and the agent, and to gather insights...

RICE AlgebraBot: Lessons learned from designing and developing responsible conversational AI using induction, concretization, and exemplification to support algebra learning
Chenglu Li, Wanli Xing, Yukyeong Song (2025)
Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence
Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

The importance and challenge of Algebra learning is widely recognized, with students across the U.S. facing difficulties due to the subject's complexity. While extensive research has focused on enhancing Algebra learning in K-12 education, the reusability, scalability, and effectiveness of the strategies employed (e.g., manual interventions and digital tutoring platforms) remain limited. Conversational AI (ConvAI), enabled by the advancement of large language models (LLMs), emerges as a potential tool for automatic, personalized, and effective student support. However, ethical concerns surrounding diversity, safety, sentiment, and stereotype associated with ConvAI are prominent, and...

AI literacy for ethical use of chatbot: Will students accept AI ethics?
Yusuke Kajiwara, Kouhei Kawabata (2024)
Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence
Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

In AI literacy education, there are few examples of education based on AI ethical principles, and limited knowledge exists regarding curriculum design that incorporates AI ethical principles and its effects. Therefore, in this study, we propose a curriculum that teaches the ethical use of large language models (LLM) such as ChatGPT and verify its impact on educational effectiveness and technology acceptance among students aged 12 to 24. The validation results show that the proposed curriculum particularly contributes to the understanding of LLM concepts and their ethical use in decision support. We also demonstrate that experience using ChatGPT influences the level of understanding of...

Designing conversational Agents for adaptive instructional support in business simulation gaming
Anna Wenzel, Jan-Martin Geiger, Andreas Liening (2026)
Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence
Detalles Cerrar βœ•

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Temas: inteligencia artificial

Resumen:

Texto completo

Adaptive instructional support that addresses individual learner differences in learning strengths, challenges, and interests is essential for engaging learners in meaningful cognitive processes and promoting learning. Although business simulation games (BSGs) are widely used for experiential entrepreneurial learning, they often provide limited formative feedback and structured reflection, which can overwhelm novice learners and exacerbate existing educational disparities. While AI-supported conversational agents (CAs) offer potential for scalable adaptive support, theory-driven guidance for their design in digital game-based learning (DGBL) remains scarce, particularly from an ethical and...

The introduction of Artificial Intelligence technology enables the integration of Chatbot systems into various aspects of education. This technology is increasingly being used for educational purposes. Chatbot technology has the potential to provide quick and personalised services to everyone in the sector, including institutional employees and students. This paper presents a systematic review of previous studies on the use of Chatbots in education. A systematic review approach was used to analyse 53 articles from recognised digital databases. The review results provide a comprehensive understanding of prior research related to the use of Chatbots in education, including information on...

Tipo: artículo

Metodología: estudio empírico

Resumen:

Texto completo

Collaborative problem solving (CPS) encourages children to communicate effectively and fosters creativity and critical thinking. New digital technologies can potentially provide opportunities for innovative ways to promote CPS at an early age. However, one key challenge of such technologies is to be engaging and effective while also pedagogically adapting to developmental needs of young learners. In this paper, we propose that a multimodal conversational AI system, Kid Space, providing interactive learning experiences could enrich CPS and promote positive educational outcomes. Kid Space combines multimodal classroom sensing with a projected 3D virtual environment and an animated...

Resumen:

Texto completo

In an era where artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping educational paradigms, this study explores AI-based chatbot adoption in higher education among students and educators. Employing a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach, the research focuses on developing and validating a comprehensive model to understand the multifaceted factors impacting the acceptance and use of these chatbots. The methodology integrates an extensive literature review, construction of a theoretical model, administration of a detailed questionnaire to a representative sample from the higher education sector, coupled with advanced SEM techniques for data analysis and interpretation. The SEM analysis validates...
