This article presents the results of a longitudinal study of digital writing strategies and vocabulary development among Swedish upper secondary school pupils of Spanish as a foreign language. During one schoolyear, the pupils (N=31) wrote four essays in Spanish, a pre-test and a post-test. 15 pupils used a printed dictionary as translation tool, 16 used Google Translate (GT). Vocabulary development was measured as the change in lexical diversity from pre-test to post-test, using Guiraud’s index. In the Spanish-as-a-foreign-language class, there is a vast amount of classroom instruction (and textbook attention) dedicated to verbs, assuming that this is the most difficult issue for native English speakers to learn. The present study compares the academic performance of students of Spanish as a second language between a control group following a flipped learning methodology and another group receiving more traditional instruction. It also evaluates the impact of combining the two methodologies during the same semester on the students' linguistic performance. The results of the pre- and post-tests based on grammar activities indicate that, in the between-subjects design, there are no notable differences between the inverted and non-inverted groups. Although the importance of K–12 artificial intelligence (AI) education grows, the lack of teacher readiness hinders the integration of AI in schools. To address this issue, this study aimed to explore South Korean elementary school teachers' experiences teaching AI curricula and examine their competencies. A survey and interviews were conducted with 67 elementary school teachers who have been working in AI-leading schools in South Korea.
