En el contexto digital actual, promover la alfabetización en inteligencia artificial (IA) resulta fundamental, ya que sus usos están modificando la vida cotidiana y el ámbito laboral. El objetivo de la investigación es sintetizar los beneficios de la inteligencia artificial en el aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras. El enfoque es cualitativo, orientada bajo una revisión sistemática de evidencia reciente (2022–2025), siguiendo los lineamientos PRISMA. La búsqueda se llevó a cabo en Scopus, Web of Science e IEEE Xplore. Se identificaron 299 artículos iniciales; se seleccionaron 176 estudios para el análisis. Digital Applied Linguistics (DAL) is an innovative and rapidly evolving field that integrates advanced technologies, particularly generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), into language education, acquisition, and research. This study first systematically synthesized research on language learning, teaching, and teacher development, as well as potential future directions in GenAI-driven Digital Applied Linguistics, drawing on 23 recent and relevant studies. Employing the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, findings indicated that digital technologies, particularly GenAI, have significant potential to enhance and transform language learning and teaching. An artificial intelligence-based chatbot, ChatGPT, was launched in November 2022 and is capable of generating cohesive and informative human-like responses to user input. This rapid review of the literature aims to enrich our understanding of ChatGPT's capabilities across subject domains, how it can be used in education, and potential issues raised by researchers during the first three months of its release (i.e., December 2022 to February 2023).
