Resumen:
Collaborative problem solving (CPS) encourages children to communicate effectively and fosters creativity and critical thinking. New digital technologies can potentially provide opportunities for innovative ways to promote CPS at an early age. However, one key challenge of such technologies is to be engaging and effective while also pedagogically adapting to developmental needs of young learners. In this paper, we propose that a multimodal conversational AI system, Kid Space, providing interactive learning experiences could enrich CPS and promote positive educational outcomes. Kid Space combines multimodal classroom sensing with a projected 3D virtual environment and an animated...

Resumen:
In an era where artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping educational paradigms, this study explores AI-based chatbot adoption in higher education among students and educators. Employing a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach, the research focuses on developing and validating a comprehensive model to understand the multifaceted factors impacting the acceptance and use of these chatbots. The methodology integrates an extensive literature review, construction of a theoretical model, administration of a detailed questionnaire to a representative sample from the higher education sector, coupled with advanced SEM techniques for data analysis and interpretation. The SEM analysis validates...

Resumen:
This study examines how generative AI can support middle school scientific inquiry in a rural agriculture-STEM classroom. Using a mixed-methods design with concurrent data collection and sequential analytic integration, we analyzed 42 eighth-grade students, organized into 12 groups, as they used Aspen, a custom AI chatbot, to revise scientific research questions and hypotheses around a sustainable agriculture problem. Data sources included group project journals, AI interaction logs, and peer discussion transcripts. First, a two-dimensional profiling method categorized the 12 groups into four analytic profiles: Struggling, Most Improved, Perfectionists, and High Achievers, based on initial...

Resumen:
The CHAT-ACTS pedagogical framework presented in this paper integrates personalized chatbots into active and self-regulated learning (SRL) to enhance student engagement, motivation, and learning outcomes. Employing three primary learning modes - Personalized Chatbot, Self-Regulated Learning, and Active Learning - the learner occupies the central position, symbolizing their active role in shaping their learning journey. Strategic actions such as Evaluation, Feedback, and Plan are crucial in the Personalized Chatbot mode, while the SRL mode emphasizes Goal Setting and Study Tactics. The Active Learning mode underscores Active-Based Learning and Teaching Strategies. Through these modes,...

Resumen:
The rise of generative AI has increased interest in its application as an intelligent lab assistant in programming education, but concerns persist over its educational value and potential exploitation. While previous work supports using a customized chatbot as an assistant that provides specific guidance rather than allowing students to prompt responses freely, empirical evidence directly comparing these approaches is still lacking. This study evaluates the impact of two chatbot designs, Unrestricted and Assistant, on student learning and behavior in a short Python programming course. Through a controlled experiment involving 42 participants, we found that students using the Assistant...

Resumen:
Interviewing skills play a pivotal role in the job application and search, professional development to prepare for interviewing is a neglected area of research. Professional training methods are available but are often prohibitively expensive, limiting opportunities primarily to privileged individuals. To bridge this accessibility gap and democratize access to job opportunities, there is a need to develop automated interview simulation platforms. The advent of Generative AI (GenAI) technology, in particular Large Language Models (LLMs), makes this is viable proposition but progress is hindered by the absence of open-source implementations for reproducibility and comparison, as well as the...

Resumen:
In AI literacy education, there are few examples of education based on AI ethical principles, and limited knowledge exists regarding curriculum design that incorporates AI ethical principles and its effects. Therefore, in this study, we propose a curriculum that teaches the ethical use of large language models (LLM) such as ChatGPT and verify its impact on educational effectiveness and technology acceptance among students aged 12 to 24. The validation results show that the proposed curriculum particularly contributes to the understanding of LLM concepts and their ethical use in decision support. We also demonstrate that experience using ChatGPT influences the level of understanding of...

Resumen:
Artificial intelligence (AI) agents are rapidly reshaping the landscape of computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL), presenting both new opportunities and challenges for educators and learners. Despite their increasing prevalence, there remains a lack of comprehensive, theory-informed synthesis regarding the roles and impacts of AI agents within CSCL. This systematic literature review analyses 46 empirical studies published between 2014 and 2025, with the aim of clarifying the methodological and contextual characteristics of the field, the pedagogical and technological features of AI-mediated CSCL environments, the instructional and mediational functions of AI agents, and the...

Resumen:
The introduction of Artificial Intelligence technology enables the integration of Chatbot systems into various aspects of education. This technology is increasingly being used for educational purposes. Chatbot technology has the potential to provide quick and personalised services to everyone in the sector, including institutional employees and students. This paper presents a systematic review of previous studies on the use of Chatbots in education. A systematic review approach was used to analyse 53 articles from recognised digital databases. The review results provide a comprehensive understanding of prior research related to the use of Chatbots in education, including information on...

Resumen:
The rapid integration of AI-based tools in education calls for a critical assessment of how these technologies impact student engagement. This study explores the perceived effects of AI chat tools by analyzing pre- and post-semester survey data from 724 to 642 students, respectively, across diverse disciplines and demographic groups. Initially, students reported high levels of engagement in key areas such as academic self-efficacy, autonomy, interest, and self-regulation. However, by the semester's end, all these areas showed a noticeable decline. This suggests that while AI tools offer initial benefits, their long-term effectiveness in maintaining engagement may be limited due to...
