Resumen:
Prompt literacy signifies a major leap in education, offering a potent tool to interact with generative AI systems. As an emerging necessity in the 21st century and beyond, it encompasses the formulation, interpretation, and analysis of AI prompts. Poised to be foundational for all future generations, this discourse brings to light its emergence in parallel with generative AI and its transformative role in pedagogical contexts for the coming decades and beyond.

Resumen:
Examines the effects of ChatGPT's Advanced Voice Mode on the development of university students' oral proficiency. Following a sequential explanatory mixed-methods design, the study measured improvement over an 8-week intervention and then gathered learners' perspectives through semi-structured interviews. Quantitative findings showed that fluency and lexical resources increased significantly, but pronunciation did not. The qualitative data focus on three themes: the potential of AI for low-anxiety practice, learners' frustration with the lack of nuanced feedback on accent, and difficulties with real-time corrective functions. The authors propose a «Mixed Dialogical Model» combining...

Resumen:
This systematic review explores the efficacy of AI-driven chatbots in second language (L2) acquisition and examines their pedagogical implications. Synthesizing findings from 30 empirical studies published between 2020 and 2024, this review investigates the impact of chatbots use across core language skills, including speaking, writing, reading, listening, grammar, and vocabulary. Results indicate notable improvements in learners' productive and receptive skills, especially in speaking and writing, due to features such as real-time feedback, anxiety reduction, and increase practice opportunities. While reading and listening also showed positive outcomes, their development was often...

Resumen:
Educators are increasingly using GenAI chatbots in language learning classrooms. However, without a guiding theoretical framework, GenAI use may emphasize technological capabilities while overlooking the instructional and social goals of the learning environment. In this systematic review, we draw on the usefulness framework from the field of computer-supported collaborative learning to examine 24 empirical studies on the use of GenAI chatbots in language learning classrooms published between 2022 and 2025. By tracing how educators are using GenAI chatbots in language learning classrooms, we identify (1) the technological, pedagogical, and social...

Resumen:
This paper presents a comprehensive review of the use of Artificial Intelligence in Systematic Literature Reviews (SLRs). The study focuses on how AI techniques are applied in the semi-automation of SLRs, specifically in the screening and extraction phases. The authors examine 21 leading SLR tools using a framework that combines 23 traditional features with 11 AI features, and also analyse 11 recent tools that leverage large language models for searching the literature and assisting academic writing. The paper highlights three primary research challenges: integrating advanced AI solutions such as large language models and knowledge graphs, improving usability, and...

Resumen:
The use of chatbots as learning assistants is receiving increasing attention in language learning due to their ability to converse with students using natural language. Previous reviews mainly focused on only one or two narrow aspects of chatbot use in language learning. This review goes beyond merely reporting the specific types of chatbot employed in past empirical studies and examines the usefulness of chatbots in language learning, including first language learning, second language learning, and foreign language learning. We conducted a systematic search and identified 25 empirical studies, using the inductive grounded approach to identify the technological and pedagogical affordances and the challenges of using chatbots, and Garrison's social presence framework to analyze the social affordances.

The rapid integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) into educational contexts has presented both opportunities and challenges for students seeking and using feedback. While AI-generated feedback can offer increased access, timely responses and personalised insights, concerns about the quality of AI-generated feedback still persist, including issues of bias, factual inaccuracies, and homogenisation. This study investigates how students use, value and trust AI-generated feedback compared to feedback from educators. This paper draws on a large-scale cross-sectional survey administered across four major Australian universities. A quantitative analysis of ...

Resumen:
The launch of ChatGPT has drawn public attention to the potential of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools due to its high accessibility and affordances. Many language teachers have attempted to integrate GenAI tools into their teaching practices. However, there is a dearth of research investigating the use of AI in the context of secondary schools. This qualitative case study used an in-depth focus-group interview with three in-service English language teachers in an early-adopting Hong Kong secondary school to explore their experiences of utilizing GenAI tools in actual teaching practices and the underlying factors facilitating or hindering the...
