The Department of Latin American, Latino & Iberian Studies in the School of Arts & Sciences at the University of Richmond invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track, continuing position with benefits, beginning in the 2027-2028 academic year.
The teaching load is 6 units annually, with 2-unit intensive courses meeting five times weekly. The successful candidate will co-direct the Spanish language program alongside another co-director, overseeing curriculum development, advising students and supervising undergraduate teaching assistants. There are opportunities to teach advanced Spanish courses, first-year seminars and summer intensive programs, and flexibility to engage with emerging technologies and AI in language instruction. The candidate will also be expected to build community and encourage belonging by connecting students from a wide range of linguistic and cultural backgrounds to opportunities across campus.
Start date: 2027-2028 academic year.
A Master's or doctoral degree in a relevant field such as Spanish, language program direction, second-language acquisition, or applied linguistics by the time of appointment. A record of excellence teaching beginning and intermediate Spanish at the college level. Experience in language program direction is preferred.
