Sherborne Girls is seeking to appoint a dynamic, inspirational and enthusiastic Teacher of Spanish to teach across the full age range, from Year 7 to A Level. This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful Languages Department and deliver high-quality Spanish lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, including GCSE, A Level and DELE. The successful candidate will be committed to providing an engaging and stimulating learning environment, supporting pupils of all abilities, and encouraging a passion for languages both within and beyond the classroom.
As a full boarding school, Sherborne Girls offers a vibrant and rewarding educational environment in which staff make a significant contribution to both the academic and pastoral life of the school. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will act as a tutor, contribute to the co-curricular programme, and support the boarding community through evening and weekend duties. There may also be an opportunity for the successful candidate to occupy residential accommodation within a boarding house, subject to undertaking associated boarding duties.
While the primary place of work will be Sherborne Girls School, the successful candidate will also contribute to and support initiatives across the wider Sherborne Schools Group. Reporting to the Head of Languages.
Maternity cover. The position may be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis.
Start date: April 2027.
Essential:
- Academically strong; hold a degree in Spanish or a related discipline.
- Experience of teaching Spanish at GCSE and A Level.
- Hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
- Ability to inspire a love of learning.
- High standards of written and oral communication.
- IT literate with strong administrative skills.
- Ability to be well organised, proactive, and calm under pressure.
- Willing to participate in Sherborne Girls’ co-curricular provision and the Sherborne Schools Group community.
Desirable:
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Experience of offering cocurricular enrichment in Spanish/MFL.
- Experience of teaching or working within a boarding environment.
