This is an exceptional opportunity for an inspiring French and Spanish specialist to play a foundational role in shaping the European Languages curriculum at SPGS International School Bangkok, bringing the academic rigour and intellectual ambition of St Paul's Girls' School to the new Senior School. The post offers the scope to build a language programme from Year 7 through to the IB Diploma Programme in the Sixth Form. The successful candidate will teach both French and Spanish across Key Stage 3 and IGCSE, with the capability to deliver at least one language to IB Higher Level.
Reporting to the Deputy Head, Learning and Teaching, the postholder will design and deliver a language curriculum that frames target languages as primary media to express complex ideas, concepts and worldviews, weaving target-language literature, cinema, history and contemporary culture directly into daily teaching. Beyond the classroom, the successful candidate will serve as a Form Tutor within an embedded pastoral ethos and will contribute to co-curricular activities.
Start date: August 2027. Although the post officially begins then, the school anticipates some preparation time with the appointee prior to the start date, as early engagement will be vital to help shape the French & Spanish curriculum.
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in French with Spanish or Spanish with French.
- Qualified Teacher Status (UK), PGCE, or equivalent teaching certification.
- A minimum of 2 years' teaching experience within a Senior School setting.
- An innovative and imaginative approach to French & Spanish teaching, with the ability to deliver inspirational and inclusive lessons to students across a range of age groups and learning needs.
- Thorough understanding of the English National Curriculum.
- Ability to design and implement engaging and developmentally appropriate learning activities, and experience using assessment tools to track and support students' progress.
- Demonstrated experience using technology with clear intent to enhance learning experiences and support student achievement.
- Ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of students.
Desirable
- Recent background in UK secondary school education with experience overseas.
- Experience delivering and developing IGCSE and IBDP curriculums.
- Experience contributing to international accreditation or inspection processes.
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and learning support software.
