Concordia is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Middle and High School Spanish language acquisition teacher, with a strong background in teaching across multiple proficiency levels. The exact teaching assignment will be determined based on the skills and expertise of the individual and the needs of the current MS/HS World Languages team. Preferred attributes include experience with and a strong understanding of the ACTFL World-Readiness Standards and proficiency-based language instruction; AP experience is preferred. The successful candidate will create engaging and authentic opportunities for students to communicate in Spanish, demonstrate strong collaborative teaming, integrate inclusive practices at the planning and instruction stages, and contribute to a positive culture and climate where students are at the center.
In order to meet Concordia schoolwide learning outcomes (SLOs) and grade level expectations, the teacher carries out the following broad and specific responsibilities across the following domains: Planning and Preparation, Classroom Management, Instruction, and Professional Responsibilities.

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject area.
- A certification in education.
- Advanced degree or specialization training that supports the teaching role, preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years successful teaching in a school setting.
- Teaching in the subject area and with the age of students assigned.
- Working successfully with an ethnically diverse population.
- Working with students with learning differences.
- Working with students who are English Language Learners (ELL).
- Working in an international school setting and familiarity with the American educational system, preferred.
- Creating units of work using Universal by Design (UbD) strategies, preferred.
Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of the developmental needs and milestones of students in the age group you are teaching.
- Knowledgeable about:
- Developing appropriate practices
- Using a variety of formative assessments, progress monitoring tools, and differentiated learning strategies
- The content and pedagogy - Effective communicator – communicates well with a diverse community of parents, staff, and leaders; proficient writing skills.
- Highly skillful at using and integrating technology.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Due to age restrictions in China, we are not able to consider teacher applicants who will be older than 55 on August 1 of the year of their initial contract.
- It is required that teaching candidates have certification/license.
