The Department of Languages and Intercultural Studies at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a full-time lecturer of Spanish to begin August 16, 2027. This position is benefit eligible. The successful candidate will be able to teach all levels of Spanish language as well as occasional English-language courses in our Intercultural Studies program. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience or interest in language pedagogy and/or Spanish for the professions (particularly Spanish for health-related professions and social services). The teaching load for this position is 30 credits per year (approximately equivalent to a 5-5 load).

Job duties: teaches students in the classroom, laboratory, and/or studio; prepares content, syllabi, and University Moodle/curricular site for each course; posts and holds regular office hours each week; engages in University-related activities including committee assignments, meetings, ceremonies, events and scholarly pursuits.
Required qualifications include a master’s degree in Spanish, Hispanic Studies, or a closely related field; experience teaching language and culture courses to students from a broad range of majors at a US institution of higher education; native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English; and experience teaching with technology.
Preferred qualifications include evidence of exceptional teaching, evidence of interest in ongoing professional development, evidence of familiarity with ACTFL Standards, and demonstrable experience in languages for the professions.
