The School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics at the University of Limerick seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Associate Teacher in Spanish to provide maternity cover. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality Spanish language teaching at undergraduate level. The role will include module coordination, assessment and feedback, student support, and the supervision of student projects. Familiarity with educational technologies and the use of artificial intelligence in language teaching and learning is desirable.

The post involves delivering Spanish-language classes across the four skills of language learning (listening, speaking, reading and writing) at all undergraduate levels and at CEFR levels A1 to C1, including the design of exams and other forms of assessment; supervising Final Year Projects; contributing to the teaching and supervision of student teachers in the Bachelor of Education in Languages; and engaging in academic-related administrative duties, such as the coordination of modules and attending open day events.

Essential criteria: Master's degree (level 9NFQ or equivalent) in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language or a cognate discipline (Hispanic Studies, Translation Studies). Qualifications must include a teaching qualification (Diploma or equivalent where the degree is not a teaching degree). A minimum of three years of experience effectively teaching Spanish language in higher education (level 8NFQ or equivalent), at all CEFR levels. Native or near-native command of Spanish. Excellent standard of written and spoken English. Experience of administrative duties in higher education (module or course coordination). Ability to work as a member of a team in a collegial and collaborative manner. Experience of using digital technologies in the language classroom.

Desirable criteria: experience in teaching translation and/or interpreting; experience of secondary teaching education in a university context; commitment to outreach and/or scholarly activities.
