The Department of World Languages at the University of South Florida invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track position in Spanish Linguistics at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 7, 2027.
Responsibilities: conduct, present and publish research and engage in other professional activities; teach courses primarily in Spanish for the Spanish program at the undergraduate and graduate levels; collaborate, when appropriate, with the graduate programs in Applied Linguistics; and participate actively in department, college and university governance.
Start date: 7 August 2027.
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Spanish Linguistics, Applied Linguistics (Spanish-language focus) or a closely related field by August 7, 2027, meeting university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor. Native or near-native command of Spanish and excellent communication skills in English. Active research agenda. Experience teaching at the university level. Preferred: a record of publication, a research focus on the Caribbean and/or the Spanish-speaking world in the Western Hemisphere, and demonstrated success in teaching graduate and undergraduate courses.
