Call for abstracts, invitation: ai in language education workshop
We are delighted to invite you to participate in a three-day workshop, “AI in language education as a matter of practical methodology,” taking place at Czech Technical University in Prague from September 16 to 18 2026.
Jointly organized by the Czech Technical University (CTU) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM), this event will bring together language teachers from EuroTeQ partner universities and beyond to exchange practices and critically evaluate the use of AI in language teaching and learning in higher education. Thanks to a generous grant from EuroTeQ, entrance and participation in this event is completely free for the selected presenters.
About the event
The focus of the workshop is the pedagogically meaningful integration of AI into language teaching. The event will combine short presentations, peer-led case studies, hands-on workshops, interdisciplinary discussion, and collaborative curriculum design.
Together, we aim to produce a set of tested, practical AI-supported language learning activities, draft an initial methodological framework, and lay the foundation for a shared EuroTeQ repository of teaching materials.
The workshop program is structured around three core themes to ensure a comprehensive exploration of AI in language teaching:
- Day 1: Teacher Agency (focusing on educators' perspectives, workflows, and pedagogical choices)
- Day 2: Student Agency (focusing on learner autonomy, AI-mediated learning, and student interaction)
- Day 3: Joint Implementation (collaborative design and hands-on material development)
Call for abstracts, selection process
To ensure the workshop brings together a strong mix of practical experience and evidence-informed reflection, participation is based on a selection process. All abstracts will be subject to peer review.
Potential participants are invited to submit a short abstract (200–300 words) for a 15–20 minute presentation focusing on the use of AI in university language education. Priority will be given to contributions that connect AI with concrete teaching practice, classroom experimentation, pilot implementation, or research-based evaluation.
Submission details
Please send your abstract of 200–300 words to jennipet@fel.cvut.cz by 15 August 2026. Selected participants will be notified shortly thereafter to confirm their free registration.
We look forward to collaborating with you in Prague to empower university language teachers to use AI critically, creatively, and responsibly.
Each abstract and presentation should address:
- The teaching or research context.
- The language/languages involved.
- The student level or target group.
- The AI tool, function, or approach used.
- The activity, workflow, research design, or classroom procedure.
- Observed outcomes, benefits, challenges, or research findings.
- Possible adaptation to other language courses or institutional context.
Abstract submissions close on 15 August 2026.
Selected presenters will be notified shortly after to confirm their fully funded (free) registration.
