The Chappaqua Central School District is a community of six schools serving approximately 3500 students in Westchester County. Chappaqua CSD is looking for a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the anticipated probationary position of World Language Teacher (Spanish) at Horace Greeley High School effective September 2, 2026.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Develops and administers world language education curriculum, specifically in Spanish, consistent with school district goals and vision.
- Familiar with ACTFL Standards and uses them for unit and lesson plan development.
- Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of Spanish to everyday life with knowledge and experience using ACTFL proficiency standards preferred.
- Fosters a welcoming classroom environment that nurtures emotional well-being and a sense of belonging.
- Uses NYS standards educational research to inform instructional practices.
- Uses formative assessments to gauge student understanding.
- Has experience with evidence-based social-emotional learning strategies to promote emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of the RULER approach is preferred.
- Uses knowledge of students and student performance when planning lessons.
- Infuses culturally relevant practices to ensure that lessons reflect the diverse backgrounds and experiences of all students.
- Integrates diverse perspectives and voices into instructional materials and resources to broaden students' understanding of the world.
- Maintains high expectations for all students.
- Engages in regular, collaborative professional development with the understanding that team efficacy is greater than individual efforts alone.
