The Humanities Department at Columbia College is seeking applications for a full-time visiting position in Spanish Language and Cultures at the Assistant Professor or Instructor level starting Fall 2026 semester (9-month contract). The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching in-seat classes in elementary Spanish language here at our Columbia, Missouri campus, as well as more advanced language, literature, and culture courses in the recently established Spanish Language and Cultures B.A. (SLC) program offered online by the College. The position includes acting as SLC Program Coordinator, which involves assisting with development and oversight of program curriculum, as well as program assessment. Typically, faculty members teach 24 credit hours or the equivalent per academic year.

The salary offered is competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
A Master’s degree in Spanish or a related field is required and would qualify the candidate for the rank of Visiting Instructor. Native or near native fluency in Spanish is expected together with an excellent command of English. The ideal candidate will possess experience demonstrating effective student-centered teaching strategies which enhance the success of diverse learners in multiple learning environments, and show potential for quality curriculum development. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience at the collegiate level.
