Spanish Guest Faculty Position 2026-2028

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Sarah Lawrence College seeks a full-time guest faculty member in Spanish to teach two courses per semester in the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 academic years. In the first academic year, the instructor will teach one yearlong Beginning Spanish class and two semester-long literature or culture seminars taught in English translation. Specialization is open, but we are particularly interested in candidates whose courses will expand our offerings in Hispanic literatures and cultures in and outside of South America and the Caribbean. In the second academic year, the instructor will teach one yearlong Intermediate class and two semester-long Advanced Spanish seminars or one yearlong Advanced Spanish class. 

Classes in our thriving Spanish program are capped at 15 students and typically meet twice a week for 85 minutes per session; the courses also involve 1-on-1 biweekly meetings of 30 minutes with students. These individual meetings are designed for students to work on a semester-long independent project related to the course content with the faculty. We seek an instructor dedicated to imparting the rigorous language skills that will support our students in their work at the College and at our study abroad programs in Havana and Barcelona, as well as furthering our students’ interest in Spanish and Global Hispanophone cultures more generally.

This is an in-person teaching appointment, with the expectation that the appointed individual will teach on campus for the duration of the contract period.
