The International School of Como is seeking a passionate and committed Spanish Teacher to join the school from August 2026.
This role is available as either:
- Part-time (0.7 FTE) – Spanish Teacher, or
- Full-time – Spanish Teacher with the ability to also teach Italian
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality language teaching, inspiring students to develop strong communication skills and cultural awareness within an engaging and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Spanish across relevant year groups (Middle and/or Secondary School)
- Plan and deliver engaging, communicative and student-centred lessons
- Support students in developing speaking, listening, reading and writing skills
- Prepare students for internal and external assessments where applicable
- Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners
- Monitor student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback
- Contribute to curriculum planning and development within the languages department
- Engage positively with parents and the wider school community
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including trips and cultural activities
- Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
(For full-time role)
- Teach Italian language classes as required, supporting the school’s broader languages provision
- If applying for Spanish and Italian- Teach Italian across grades in PYP and MYP
Essential
- A degree in Spanish, Languages or a related field
- A recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Spanish at school level
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- A passion for language learning and cultural education
- A collaborative and student-centred approach
- Legal right to live and work in Italy (EU passport or valid work permit)
Desirable
- Ability to teach Italian (required for full-time role)
- Experience in an international school setting
- Experience preparing students for external examinations
- Native or near-native Spanish proficiency
