The primary responsibility of this position is to provide effective instruction in the subject area, helping to fulfill the College’s goal of providing a quality education for all students attending CTC.
Essential Functions
- Teaches assigned classes using syllabi, tests, and textbooks approved by the department in accordance with established professional practices in the teaching area.
- Maintains designated number of office hours and counsels, advises, and guides students in matters related to the class and on related academic issues.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress in compliance with college policies; submit certification rolls require by the Central Texas College Registrar office by submission due date.
- Assists the Department Chair in evaluating, updating, and improving departmental policies, practices, syllabi, materials, and equipment.
- Maintains professional skills and subject expertise through continual involvement in professional development activities.
- Communicate regularly with students regarding course expectations, progress, and resources available for struggling students
- Executes any other duties assigned by the Department Chair.
Education and Experience
- A Master’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education with 18 graduate hours in Spanish required.
- Three years of teaching experience at the post-secondary or secondary level in an appropriate academic discipline preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Ability
- Possess a demonstrated knowledge in the subject matter being taught.
- Effective classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Be able to teach the subject matter effectively and communicate clearly with students.
- Ability to develop and teach online /distance learning courses.
- Must be efficient with using computers and learning various electronic systems such as Etrieve (electronic forms), Eagle Self Service and Blackboard.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
- Ability to manage email and respond to emails in a timely manner.
