Salary is commensurate with education, qualifications, and experience and a reasonable estimate for this position is $70,977 to $77,561 based on a 100% full-time appointment.
The Department of Spanish & Portuguese at the University of California, Davis, invites applications for a part-time Lecturer position for the 2026-2027 academic year. The field of specialization is Latin American Literature. Successful candidates will have experience and competence in teaching in Spanish at the college level.
Assignment of classes, hours of instruction, and office hours are at the discretion of the department. Classes are held Monday-Friday, normally between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Shared office space, access to the campus library, copier, and computer facilities will be provided. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
This appointment is renewable contingent on department teaching needs, funding and demonstration of excellence in teaching.
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
A Ph.D. in Spanish, applied linguistics, and/or any related field is preferred, although applicants with an MA will also be considered. The successful candidates will have experience teaching Spanish and expertise and in Latin American literature and culture.
Applicants should possess native or near-native language and cultural competence in Spanish and English.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
The ability to teach courses in Mexican and/or Mexican-American literature and culture is highly desired.
