The Department of Languages and Intercultural Studies at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the advanced assistant or early associate level in Spanish for the Professions. The teaching load for this position is 3/3 and will begin August 16, 2026.
At Coastal Carolina University, we have a thriving program in Spanish for health professions, including both a minor and a new graduate certificate. We also offer a B.A. in Languages and Intercultural Studies with a concentration in Hispanic Studies and Multiple Languages. The successful candidate will continue to grow these programs, collaborate with community partners, supervise student internships, and contribute to other departmental initiatives. Familiarity with and the ability to put into practice ACTFL Standards are essential. Additionally, the candidate must be able to collaborate and engage productively with faculty in a multi-language department that values a variety of perspectives. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in teaching and developing curricula in Spanish for health professions, but additional areas of expertise in Spanish for the professions will be considered. Advanced assistant professors are encouraged to apply.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Spanish in hand by start date of appointment
- Evidence of experience teaching Spanish for the Professions
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English
- Experience teaching language courses a US institution of higher education
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching Spanish for health-related professions
- Evidence of exceptional teaching
- Experience with program coordination
- Evidence of proficiency in teaching with technology
- Evidence of scholarly activity related to Spanish for the Professions
