The Department of World Languages and Cultures invites applications for a full-time, nonrenewable (one-year) Assistant Teaching Professor position with a start date of August 10, 2026. This is a 9-month appointment.
Essential Functions
The primary responsibility of this position is to teach core elementary and intermediate language courses in Spanish. Responsibilities also include providing service at the department level.
Program in Spanish: The design of Spanish is based on the integration of language, culture, linguistics and literature. Our course of study reflects the nature of our most important goal: we address the reality that Spanish is spoken by many different ethnic groups whose cultures, history, and customs modify and enrich these languages. Graduates of our undergraduate and graduate Spanish programs have been very successful in effectively holding positions in businesses, government agencies and schools.
Minimum Qualifications
• M.A. in Spanish or related field ( e.g., Applied Linguistics, Hispanic Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, Education, etc).
• Experience teaching undergraduates at the elementary and/or intermediate levels in Spanish.
• Native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English.
Preferred Qualifications:
• PhD in Spanish
