Descripción

The The Department of Hispanic, Portuguese and Latin American Studies is an integral part of a dynamic and forward-looking School of Modern Languages in the Faculty of Arts. The Spanish language is a popular option studied by highly qualified and well-motivated undergraduates either as a mandatory part of a Single Honours degree, as part of a Joint Honours degree with another modern language or (as part of a Joint Honours degree) with another subject. Spanish language is also taught as an option to students from all Faculties of the University and as part of the University-Wide Language Programme (UWLP).

This is a full-time teaching post on an open-ended contract fixed at grade I on Pathway 3, teaching language courses, with responsibility for coordination of team-taught units and aspects of the Year Abroad.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute flexibly across the full range of language teaching at the undergraduate level, in specialist and non-specialist units taught on campus. They will also support the language team in Modern Languages in developing up-to-date teaching methods and materials, especially for digital delivery. They will ensure that the Spanish curriculum continues to be innovative and forward-looking in its approach to the challenges of language learning in the 21st century, including effective teaching for large groups, ex-ab initio support, and digital learning tools. They will also contribute to language-related administrative and pastoral activities, such as personal tutoring and the Year Abroad. They will bring in and develop partnerships with Spanish-language educational institutions and placement providers.

Requisitos

The successful candidate will have native or near-native competence in Spanish and English, a relevant first degree, a postgraduate language teaching qualification, and experience of language teaching in the higher education sector in the UK. Ideally, they will be a Cervantes DELE examiner.
