This position is a 100% full-time appointment with an annual salary of $62,500 and benefits. (CU Comprehensive Benefits)
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese seeks to hire a full-time Teaching Assistant Professor of Applied Spanish with a 4-4 teaching load, who will teach beginning- and intermediate-level courses in our program. For purposes of annual merit evaluation, instructors are assessed at 85% teaching and 15% service obligations. Classroom teaching and coordination duties will both be considered as part of the teaching component. The successful candidate will receive a 3-year appointment and will undergo a reappointment review in order to be considered for a subsequent 3-year appointment (funding is not guaranteed after 3 years). The expected start is Fall 2026, pending final approval by the College of Arts & Sciences.
What we require
- An MA in Spanish, Applied and/or Public Humanities, or Second-Language Acquisition and native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English.
- The candidate will have at least two years of experience successfully teaching beginning and intermediate level Spanish as a second language at the post-secondary level. Years of experience teaching while pursuing a degree may be counted for these two years.
