Salary Scale: €42,099 - €71,997 annum

Applications are invited for a permanent position as Lecturer/ Assistant Professor in Hispanic Studies.
The duties of the successful candidate will include, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:
• Engagement in high-quality research, publishing findings in outlets of international standing, securing research funding and developing international research networks within the discipline of Hispanic Studies.
• Active contribution to graduate and undergraduate teaching and assessment within the School in Hispanic studies and across all degree programmes. Inter alia, this will involve new module and programme design and delivery, examination and assessment, supervision of dissertations, quality assurance and enhancement, and associated administration.
• Contribution to cross-school and interdisciplinary teaching or supervision of MA and PhD research students.
• Active participation in research meetings, talks, conferences and workshops within SLCL and beyond.
• Contribution to an active and progressive teaching and learning culture within the School and across the College.
• Full contribution to the administrative, research and collegial life of Subjects in the School and the College, including participation in School/College committees and boards.
• Ability to lead as well as ability to be a dedicated team player.
• Development and contribution to the wider educational community and to public-facing projects, with particular focus on subject visibility, publicity, outreach and impact.
• Completion of other appropriate duties as directed by the Head of School in line with the contract of employment.
Mandatory:
• A PhD in Hispanic Studies
• Proven record of ability to conduct research in Hispanic Studies, reflected in the authorship of high-quality publications or other research outputs commensurate with career stage.
• Proven ability in the organisation of, and contribution to, research conferences and cultural events.
• Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish (at CEFR level C2), combined with excellent communication skills in English.
• Evidence of proven teaching ability in the areas of Spanish language and in Hispanic Studies at university level.
• Experience of module design and coordination at university level.
• A proven ability and willingness to teach on Spanish language modules and on other modules outside areas of specialist research interest.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and willingness to work as part of a team in a professional and collegial manner.
• A capacity and enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary context within Subject, School, and the wider academic community within UCD.
• High-quality administrative skills
• Evidence of academic leadership ability, including willingness to design new modules and to contribute to the design of new programmes.
• Candidates must demonstrate how they can positively contribute to fostering an inclusive environment and a level of awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion.
Desirable:
• Experience of contributing to interdisciplinary / cross-School modules and/or programmes.
• University teaching qualification or demonstrable evidence of continuous professional development in university teaching and learning.
• Interest in the organisation of extra-curricular, outreach and public educational and cultural activities.
• Evidence of teaching innovation through Spanish, including use of digital technologies and innovative teaching approaches.
• A demonstrated ability in teaching Spanish language and willingness to engage in language curriculum development.
