The Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Auburn University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish, beginning August 16, 2026. This is a full‑time, one‑year, non‑tenure‑track position with a 3–3 teaching load, renewable for up to three years.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate language, literature, and culture courses, as well as graduate seminars; supervising M.A. theses; contributing to the department’s scholarly profile; and supporting public-facing academic programming.
We seek a specialist in Spanish American poetry and theatre from the post‑independence period to the present. Candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge of the major literary movements, ideologies, and historical contexts that inform Latin American poetic and dramatic traditions.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field by the start date and possess native or near‑native proficiency in Spanish and English. Evidence of effective college‑level teaching is required. The selected candidate must meet U.S. work authorization requirements at the time the appointment begins and maintain eligibility throughout the term of employment.
