The Department of English, Philosophy and Modern Languages invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Modern Languages with a focus on Spanish and other languages to begin in Fall 2025. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for overseeing the Minor in Spanish and the Minor in International Studies. This includes teaching undergraduate courses in Spanish with the possibility of teaching other courses in the discipline during the academic year. Opportunities to develop additional courses in the candidate’s specialty area exist. Other expected duties include possibly leading groups of students on study abroad trips; advising students; service to the department, college, and/or university committees; contributions to the department’s ongoing assessment and curricular needs; and an active research, presentation, and publication agenda. The teaching load for an Assistant Professor at MSUB is 21 credits for the academic year

Requisitos 

Required
  • PhD in Modern Languages, Spanish, or related field
  • Appropriate background in the needed area(s) of specialization
  • Ability and interest in undergraduate teaching
  • Experience with and commitment to working with diverse student populations
  • Ability and willingness to develop and teach sections/courses within multiple modalities
Preferred 
  • Ability and willingness to lead students on study abroad trips as part of their language learning
  • Experience or willingness to teach undergraduate students
  • Familiarity with D2L or a similar online course management system
  • Experience teaching in hybrid, Hyflex, and/or online
  • Experience with program assessment
