The British School, Kathmandu is looking to recruit a passionate and talented teacher of Spanish to join our World Languages Faculty for an August 2026 start. Our ideal teacher will be able to enthuse students throughout the secondary section of the school with their love of the subject and challenge our students to be the best they can be.
Suitably qualified candidates may also apply for the position of Head of World Languages Faculty.
At Key Stage 3, all students study two languages from a choice of French, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese and Nepali. All students are required to take either French, Spanish or Mandarin Chinese at IGCSE with Spanish being the most popular choice currently. A level languages are offered, subject to a sufficient interest.
As well as being part of your academic faculty team, all teachers are members of a Key Stage pastoral team and will be mentor (tutor) to a small group of up to 12 students. Mentors meet with their mentor group at the start of each day for a 20minute structured mentor programme, as well as teaching a weekly PSHE lesson.
All teachers contribute to our extensive co-curricular activities programme, with a minimum commitment of one hour per week throughout the year. Educational trips and residential visits form a key part of our curriculum and all teaching staff take part in the annual school expeditions where each year group takes part in a week long adventure or service expedition where there is the opportunity for students and teachers alike to experience Nepal outside the Kathmandu valley.

We are looking to appoint a candidate who is an outstanding classroom practitioner from Year 7 to A level and who can develop their creative approach to teaching in an amazing part of the world. The ability to teach French to KS3 may be an advantage.
