Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia invites applications for a full-time Lecturer Position in Spanish/Hispanic Studies in the Department of Modern Languages beginning September 1, 2025. This is a one-year, full-time, benefits-eligible position with possibility for renewal. The standard teaching expectation is seven courses across two semesters and one January-term.

Major/Essential Functions: Randolph-Macon College faculty teach, advise, and provide service to the college and department. Teaching responsibilities will include Spanish language courses, at all levels, in addition to courses in Hispanic Studies, covering topics such as culture, justice, and Spanish for the professions. The successful candidate will be expected to actively participate as a full-time faculty member in departmental and programmatic discussions, decisions, and tasks. Such duties may include assisting in assessment, advising, and student research projects or internships, and participating in departmental responsibilities as part of their role, which may include participating in departmental and Admissions events. Departmental events occasionally occur outside regular business hours. 

Requisitos 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Native or near-native fluency in Spanish;
  • Proficiency in English; 
  • Graduate degree in Spanish, Latin American Studies, or Hispanic studies, with a focus on culture, literature, or another related field, by the time of hire;
  • Teaching experience at the college level. 

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in hand by September 1, 2025.
  • Demonstrated commitment to language teaching in a liberal arts institution;
  • Experience teaching Spanish language courses, from beginning through post-intermediate levels, as well as courses in Hispanic Studies, and/or Latin American culture. 
  • Interest and/or experience in teaching professional courses in Spanish.
