The Department of Modern Languages at Salve Regina University invites applications for a renewable full-time lecturer position to teach a 4:4 course load to begin in Fall 2026. The successful candidate will teach first- and second- year courses in Spanish as a part of our Core Curriculum. The ability to teach first-year Italian is a plus. These are gateway courses to our departmental majors and minors so enthusiasm for the teaching of language and culture is essential. Significant experience in the undergraduate language classroom is required. In the event of sabbaticals, candidates may be asked to teach advanced levels Spanish language, literature, and culture.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Spanish, Modern Languages, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English.
- Demonstrated excellence and significant experience teaching Spanish language and culture at the undergraduate level.
- Evidence of successful teaching across multiple proficiency levels, particularly in first- and second-year language courses.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Spanish, Modern Languages, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field.
- Ability and willingness to teach introductory Italian courses.
- Experience teaching or developing Core Curriculum or general education courses.
- Familiarity with current trends in language pedagogy and the integration of technology or proficiency-based instruction.
