This position has a budgeted starting salary of $48,000 and includes excellent benefits.

Descripción 

Western Carolina University’s Department of World Languages department seeks a full-time, face-to-face Instructor of Spanish. The position is on a 9-month fixed-term contract, renewable annually at the discretion of the department head. Anticipated begin work date is August, 2023. 

Teaching load: 4-4.

Requisitos 

Minimum Qualifications 
M.A. degree in Spanish, Spanish Linguistics, Romance Languages (w/ Spanish concentration), Latin American Studies, Latinx Studies, Applied Linguistics, or closely related field. Regardless of specific degree, candidates must have at least 18 graduate credit hours in Spanish and demonstrate advanced language skills in speaking, listening comprehension, reading, and writing in both Spanish and English.
This position is open to candidates that are legally authorized to work in the U.S. and do not require the immigration-related sponsorship of WCU.

Preferred Qualifications 
Preference will be given to candidates who (1) have experience and interest in developing extra- and co-curricular activities that will contribute to the growth of the Spanish major and minor programs, (2) are qualified to teach courses in US-Latinx studies (taught in English), and (3) have experience integrating innovative, Internet-based activities (including building online presentations, practices, quizzes, and tests in LMS systems such as Canvas) in their face-to-face teaching.
