Descripción 

Languages & Communication faculty will promote the mission of NMMI, particularly the academic goals of a liberal arts education, through the development of critical thinking, communication, and the acquisition of knowledge through written platforms. This is an exempt, 9-month, full-time position. 

Tasks:

  • Teach five courses per semester comprising a combination of high school and college in the academic discipline of Spanish.
  • Normal responsibilities for Languages & Communication faculty are assumed. These include, but are not limited to, the development of course syllabi, cooperation in teaching assignments within the division, remaining current in teaching disciplines, and performance of other duties outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Prepare course syllabi in accordance with the necessary departmental requirements.

Job Description

Requisitos 

Required:

  • A Master’s degree in Spanish or a related field (with 18 credit hours in Spanish required) at the time of the initial contract or, in exceptional cases, one obtained within five years of the initial contract.
  • A minimum of two years of teaching experience at the high school level.

Preferred:

  • Teaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels to include full-time, adjunct, or graduate teaching assistant positions.
  • Teaching experience in numerous areas of Spanish.
  • Teaching experience with ESL programs and students.

Essential Skills:

  • Demonstrate a capacity to communicate effectively orally or in writing, using the English language, with or without the use of auxiliary aids, an interpreter, or any other accommodations. 
  • Be familiar with and abide by regulations established in the Faculty Handbook, NMMI Operations and Procedure Manual, and the English Department Handbook.
  • Read, understand, and adhere to uniform regulations and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Be familiar with the NMMI Corps of Cadets Manual (Blue Book).
  • Demonstrate the ability to function in a military-structured environment.

With a Corps of Cadets numbering up to 1000 young men and women, NMMI provides an accredited college preparatory curriculum on the high school level and a transfer junior college, operating within a conductive military environment.
