The Division of Modern Languages in the College of Liberals Arts and Sciences at Alfred University invites applications for a tenure-track professorship at the rank of Assistant Professor or Instructor to begin Fall 2024.
In order to contribute to Alfred University's mission, the successful candidate will teach three courses each semester. Courses include lower-division Spanish courses, lower-division General Education Literature courses, and upper-level Spanish courses for the major/minor. Additional teaching opportunities include Alfred University's Allen Term, Applied & Experiential Learning (APEX), and Summer Programs.
Requisitos
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. (or ABD) in either Latin American Literature, with a background in Afro-Latin American or Afro-Caribbean Literature and Cultures, or in Spanish Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or Heritage Language Pedagogy with a demonstrated interest in mentoring language teachers, and have native or near native fluency in Spanish. Candidates must have the ability to teach courses in Latin American, Hemispheric American, Afro-Caribbean literature or Second Language Acquisition.
Evidence of effective college or university teaching experience and the potential to build a strong record of scholarly productivity is required. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service, and have a commitment to teaching and working in a multicultural environment.
