The Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Auburn University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish Linguistics (applicants with an empirical and applied linguistics profile are encouraged to apply). We seek a colleague with a strong interdisciplinary research agenda and willingness to collaborate across projects and areas.

This position carries a 3-2 teaching load. Responsibilities include in-person teaching: a yearly Spanish Teaching Methodology graduate course, undergraduate Spanish language courses with an emphasis on Spanish for the Professions, and graduate courses in Spanish linguistics. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program, contribute to curricular innovation, and participate in departmental and university service.

The appointment will begin in August 2027. Contract type: continuing.

Applicants must also showcase a strong record of effective teaching at the college/university level, a well-developed plan of research and scholarship, and a genuine interest in interdisciplinary collaboration. Excellent communication skills required.

Additional desirable qualifications include experience with Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP), particularly Spanish for the Professions; familiarity with innovative and current language pedagogies and multimedia technologies such as Canvas; and experience designing or implementing forward-thinking, innovative curricula.

The candidate selected must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally during employment.

Apply online.

Applicants will be required to attach a letter of application; a curriculum vitae detailing academic and professional history; graduate transcripts; three letters of recommendation, at least one of which addresses the candidate's teaching effectiveness; sample teaching evaluations; and a teaching philosophy and research statement. Only candidates who have uploaded all the required documents will be considered.

Review of applications will begin October 5, 2026 and will continue until a suitable candidate has been selected.
