Course Pay Rate: $12,500

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The Department of Spanish and Latin American Cultures at Barnard College seeks a part-time instructor to teach Intermediate Spanish I (SPAN UN2101) during the fall semester of 2024.

Teach one section (approximately 15 students) of SPAN UN2101, the third course in the Spanish-language sequence offered at Barnard and Columbia.

From the course catalog: An intensive course in Spanish language communicative competence, with stress on oral interaction, reading, writing, and culture as a continuation of SPAN UN1102 or SPAN UN1120.

Language instruction in our department is geared to providing students the skills they need to use Spanish competently in all environments: personal, public, occupational, and educational. Our chosen teaching methodologies, adaptable to individual learning styles, are based on the Task-Based Approach, cognitive grammar, and the Project Approach.

We use the textbook Proyectos for all our language courses.

The exact instructional assignments and other academic responsibilities are determined by the Chair or Director.

Requisitos 

Experience with content-based and student-centered methodologies. Master's Degree with a primary or substantial focus on Teaching Spanish as a Second or Foreign Language.
