This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position in the Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA) bargaining unit at a faculty rank commensurate with experience and credentials. Salary commensurate with experience in accordance with Appendix O of the MSCA contract.

Descripción 

The Department of World Languages invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty member in Spanish. The successful candidate will teach courses in Spanish language at all levels, including developing courses for Heritage Language Learners, and linguistics. 

Other responsibilities include helping to build new academic programs, advising students, recruitment, leading Study Abroad programs, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. Tenure-track faculty must participate in institutional service. 

Preference will be given to candidates whose research focuses on the following areas: Spanish as a heritage language and pedagogy; literary and cultural production of Afro-Hispanic or Indigenous populations of the Hispanophone Caribbean or other Latin America regions. Proficiency in Portuguese is highly desirable.

Requisitos 

  • Ph.D. in Spanish completed by the time of appointment (September 1, 2025).
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish required.
  • Concentration in, or experience teaching, Latino Studies and/or Linguistics.
  • A minimum of two or three years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
  • Proficiency in Portuguese is highly desirable. Candidates must demonstrate experience teaching and developing courses for heritage language students.
