The Department of World Languages and Cultures at Georgia College and State University invites applications for a Spanish Tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning fall semester 2026 (start date August 1, 2026). We seek a dynamic and creative colleague who enjoys teaching Spanish language and culture courses at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum. The incumbent will be an integral part of a group of faculty committed to curricular innovation, study abroad, mentored undergraduate research, and community-engaged curricular and co-curricular programming.
We seek applicants with native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English who have an interest in teaching and mentoring in a public liberal arts context. We seek applicants who love language teaching and are skilled at developing innovative and exciting upper-level content courses for majors and minors. We seek candidates with active research agendas who are skilled at bringing their research into the classroom and into their mentorship of undergraduate research. We seek candidates who are able to work collegially and effectively with students and colleagues of diverse backgrounds, contributing, through their unique perspectives and experiences, to the richness and academic excellence of the wider GCSU community. We seek applicants with strong teaching skills in a proficiency-based, culture-rich curriculum, and a commitment to methodological innovation and creative teaching strategies.
Educational Requirements
- Terminal degree in a closely related field.
- Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements as stated in C.S.3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials)).
Required Experiences
- Some teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise and/or experience in developing courses in Film, Media, and/or Cultural Studies.
- Expertise and/or experience in developing courses in Spanish for Professional Purposes.
- Experience or interest in mentored undergraduate research, study abroad, and/or community-based engaged learning.
- Interest in and SACSCOC qualifications to teach another second language beyond Spanish (ie. the completion of a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the language to be taught.)
