The Department of Modern Languages at Ohio University invites applications for a non-tenure track position in Spanish at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction. This is a full-time appointment eligible for renewal contingent on successful job performance. Instructional faculty are eligible for promotion and multi-year contracts after a period of successful employment. Job duties include teaching as well as service work on faculty committees and participation in co-curricular activities.

We seek a colleague who specializes in Latin American literature and culture. While the specific area of interest is open, we welcome candidates who can contribute to teaching and developing courses with interdisciplinary focus including cultural studies, Hispanic studies, women and gender studies, etc. The ideal candidate will also have experience or a demonstrated interest in teaching language classes asynchronously online.

The teaching load is 4/4 and includes courses both at the graduate and undergraduate level. The candidate can expect to teach all levels of language courses as well as content courses across the full spectrum of the curriculum of our undergraduate and MA programs, depending on departmental needs and the candidate’s qualifications. The candidate will also contribute to curricular development, assessment, and enhance ongoing recruitment and retention efforts.

Requisitos 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Spanish by the start date of the appointment, August 2025.
  • Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English.
  • Experience teaching college-level Spanish language classes.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching asynchronously online.
  • Experience developing and implementing student recruitment initiatives.
