Applications are invited for a permanent appointment as Lecturer A in Spanish and Translation Studies at the University of Galway. The appointment will be made on the Lecturer salary scale 128A and will commence on September 1, 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The appointee will be an employee of the University of Galway, working in Spanish and Latin American Studies within the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures.
They will be expected to make a strong contribution to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level within the Discipline and on the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The appointee will also undertake supervision of MA and PhD students.
Requisitos
The person appointed will have a proven record of teaching and related academic administration, research, and publication in the area of Spanish and Translation Studies.
Applicants must have a PhD in a subject area relevant to the post (Spanish and Translation Studies) and have teaching and research expertise in Translation Studies. The successful candidate will be able to contribute to the teaching of Spanish language at all levels, Translation from Spanish to English and English to Spanish at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and Translation Studies within Spanish and the wider School. They will also be expected to teach/contribute to modules on Spanish literature and culture. The appointee will be expected to contribute to the research culture of the Discipline and School and build on their research profile, developing national and international network links, and producing research of an international standard.
