Bethany College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Spanish at the Assistant Professor rank to begin Fall 2024.

The ideal candidate will primarily support the Spanish program but will be expected to teach another language besides Spanish. The candidate should have primary expertise in Spanish language instruction and Spanish literature, as well as the ability to teach Italian and/or French. Teaching responsibilities will include Spanish Language & Cultures I and II, Conversation and Composition: Spain and Latin America, Civilization of Spain and Latin America, Advanced Composition and Translation, Spanish and Latin American Literatures, Spanish for Business/Medical Professions/Legal Professions. The ideal candidate should also be able to teach an additional language (eg. Italian) Italian Language & Cultures I, II, III or French Language & Cultures I, II, III. Additional courses in Italian or French Cultures could also be taught by the candidate to develop additional interest in the languages and cultures amongst students. 

Bethany College is a teaching institution and faculty members teach a 4-4 load. However, in the first-year candidates will be teaching a 3-3 load. Faculty are expected to engage in undergraduate advising, engaging in research/scholarship, participate in curriculum development and assessment, and serve on department and college committees.

Requisitos 

Candidates should have a doctoral degree in Spanish/Romance Languages. ABDs will be considered with the expectation that the candidate will have completed the doctorate degree by the time of appointment. Evidence of successful teaching at the undergraduate level is preferred.
