Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is a Hispanic-Serving Institution. The Spanish program offers a major and minor in Spanish, a translation certificate, and a Spanish teaching certificate.  The main focus of the program is to develop the student’s language proficiency and the literary, cultural, and practical application competencies demanded by our ever-changing world. The workload will consist of a 3/3 teaching load and 1/1 course release per long semester for research or scholarly activity.

We are especially interested in candidates with a strong potential for success as a teaching scholar, as evidenced by a record (or potential for) teaching excellence and research productivity.  The department seeks candidates with a record of (or potential for) teaching a variety of courses in Latin American Literature (e.g., Intro to Latin Am. Literature, Latin Am. Civilization, Mexican Narrative, etc.) and experience (or potential for) teaching heritage learners.  Candidates are expected to be committed to working with colleagues, students, and community members of various backgrounds.  The successful candidate should have an understanding and knowledge of heterogenous linguistic backgrounds and multicultural issues.  We are interested in candidates who can support courses in Translation/Applied Spanish and who can expand our current course offerings.  The department has an increasing focus on research and seeks applicants interested in involving students in research.
